Strengthing the Left arm

Anyone know how I can strengthen my Left arm when extending out my bow? I'm a right handed shooter and when I have my pins on the target, my Left arm shakes which, makes it tuff to put an arrow on ?the dot?. I'm shooting a Hoyt with a 56lb pull (it not a lot, I know but it hits hard and true) and up to 30 yards I can hit an orange 1" dot; however, at 40 yards I start shaking when trying to put the pin on the dot for the length of time it takes to hold the pin on the dot.

You are probably seeing more movement at farther distances. I've had luck not focusing on the pin, but looking through it and just concentrating on the dot.. Do a search on ArcheryTalk under "Holding steady"

Here is a short thread on the subject...

Anyway let us know how you are doin'

Tricep extentions! you need to work out the tri's and bi's! also a little bit of shoulder presses or military presses will do wonders. Im a trainer and I dont shake. I shake & bake!!! Tell me after your training if your shaking has been cured!!

The best thing to do is shoot more and shoot more often. I use to shake all the time but after time you learn to hold it steady. Just shoot at 56 dont move some people think that more pound the better "Wrong". If you can shoot you can shoot that is all there is to it. I have friends that shoot more then 70lbs bows and they are always talking about how their arms hurt and their shoulder are killing them. You know why ? It is the bow. Some people will kill me for sayin it but I am still hunting with no problems with my 55lbs Martin and I am killing deer and elk with it.

use dumbells in the 20 -25 lb range and do front raises, lateral raises, bent over rows, and tricep extensions. 3 or 4 sets of 10 four days a week will help a lot.
