Went out to the winter range today to look at the bucks. Almost all of them are still packin' two antlers. This buck was bedded down looking the other way and I never did get a front view

This next 3-point was the only one antlered buck I saw all day.

The dogs sure had a good day. Sorry about the deer pictures being blurry but I digiscoped them from a very long ways.

Hope you enjoyed the pictures. fatrooster.

I saw a one horned forky going towards the Horse Palace last weekend. Cant wait for warmer weather and the green-up!

tinehunter, yes they are both antler dogs. The yellow one found 33 antlers on her owne last year which was her first year. The chocolate doesn't really like hunting antlers so she stays home with the wifes Pomeranian.
blue_duck, I saw a one horned spike in Lamoille in January. Can't wait to see a bunch of no horned bucks in March. fatrooster.

Ha ha, no I don't think he's too small for deer antlers. As an added bonus you could tie a T-bone steak to his back and do some predator hunting while he's hunting antlers. It helps to blow on a rabbit in distress call at the same time, lol.
All kidding aside, any dog that will find antlers is worth taking out shed hunting. fatrooster.

Not so much a shed hunter but he does hunt .He was the Superintendant of the Youth center just outside of town ,He just retired after 25 years there.he is a freind of mine that I stay with when we hunt up that way .

FATROOSTER, I went out yesterday here in Nevada and saw the same thing, "everything still packing" I saw 5 one horned buck, so there getting close. We decided to take our new dog down to the flats were there were no deer and ended up finding 4 old white ones and a forked horn set that was brown. Sage my dog found the first shed of the year. Pretty good for her first time out!

fldrw22, I think that I did meet him once. I stopped by and talked to him about his Chukkar/Pheasant operation about 10 years ago. I was raising ostriches and emus and just was curious about his birds.
Wacmaster, yes I do know Shaun Marshall. He and his family are hunting crazy fools like me. He's a pretty good ole guy.
horndog, congrats on Sages first antler find. Its funny about those flats. You can walk and walk and cover a lot of ground and almost always come up with a few old whiteys. Its almost a sure thing. Anyways, goodluck with Sage and let me know how he/she does this year. fatrooster.

Rooster ,Not alot of folks know about that bird farm .They have actually been raising and releasing birds for the state for over 20 years .Its a great area to hunt the ones that have escaped out behind the farm.We will be coming up that way around late April to do some fishing .We need to get together for a beer ,fldrw22/Tom.

Fatrooster I'm sure you will even get to see Sage in action a few times this year! It will be good old Daisy vs. Sage. It should be a good year still have some work to do with sage but she is comming along great. Your advise has helped a bunch.

fldrw22/Tom, I'd love to get together and talk hunting, shedding and drink a beer or two. Count me in. When it gets close to the time for you to come to Elko then send me a PM. fatrooster/Drew.

Drew ,Pleasure to meet you ,And for sure will send you an e-mail when we are heading up .If you ever come to Vegas ,let me know .Sending a pm to you.

Art, see you out there. Daisy's rarin' to go.
Tom, good to meet you too. Yep, give me that call in April and we'll drink that beer. I might even let Art,(Archerybug) and Horndog come along. fatrooster.

We'll see you out there Drew and Art leaving early Sat. morning, can't wait to get out there and watch the dogs go! "Thats the best part about shed hunting is watching the dogs" Aaron

Watchin' the dogs is pretty dang good but findin' a big ole muley antler is pretty darn good too! Especially when the dog finds it. fatrooster.

DREW,
ONE OF OUR PUPS WAS SHOWING INTEREST IN A SHED LASTNIGHT. NOT BAD FOR BEING ALMOST SIX WEEKS OLD. THE OTHER ONES DON'T WANT ANYTHING TO DO WITH THEM, JUST LIKE THEIR MOM.

That Last picture with the dogs the background looks like the same place i go shed hunt haha. Last I was out was around the same day. Have you been out there lately? wondering if they were still packing or what not? Maybe ill see you out there one day

bryan, no I haven't been out there lately. Too much snow and too many people. Been going to places with less snow. fatrooster.

SNOW! And in a bit, plenty of attempts at getting stuck in the mud and ruttin' up the roads. Well, at least the critters keep getting a break from us.
