Had a half day to get out there today, so I headed towards the most recently discoverd spot in an attempt to find the match to 157" brownie that I found two weeks ago. I also packed a half-bleached non-typical 7-point single out that same day (wasn't big, but it was unusual). Access is from the top, and the hike in is all down hill. I decided to head down a canyon that I'd previously walked passed several times before, thinking I could spot most anything in there from the top through the binos, as it looked fairly open. Turned out, I wasn't as good at spotting sheds as I thought.
Found two sets and three singles within the first 3/4 mile. One of the singles is the match to the 7-point discussed above. Also found a really nice 163" 7-point with a 53" main beam:
Unfortunately, its match is really busted up. The main beam was broken off just above the G5, and the tips of the G2, G3, and G4 were also busted off. Dude must have a nasty disposition.
A pic of all seven:
All loaded up on the Eberlestock, ready to haul back up the mountain. Just what an old fat man like me needs...
Proof that I got 'em all back to the truck!
Will be headed back tomorrow; still haven't found the match to the 157" brownie...
