Spring Bear Time

I've got a simple question for the experienced bear hunters here...

When should I hunt spring bear on the San Juan?

I have heard everything from early April to mid-May and would love some clarification. Thanks for the help guys.

Bears are out and about down on San Juan earlier than most units.

The recent storms have hit harder down there than up north,
But if it were my tag, I'd be looking down there early.

I was able to get my bear on April 9th 2 years ago. So really any time could be good.

Hunted Bears on the San Juan with my dad in spring of 2013. It was super fun. Could not believe how many we saw. Bears are out earlier than other units. We went down opening weekend and saw a few. It only got better for us, but that was a little bigger winter than this year. If this winter stays "as is" they might be out early this year. I have flowers blooming in my yard. My dad finally pulled the trigger towards the end of the hunt (May) as he was looking for a bigger one. Hope you share pictures of your adventure.
