How is the snow levels this year in Idaho? Will the spring bear hunt be any good or will it be an early/late year for the bears to come out?

Where in Idaho?
In the south it seems the winter is just getting started. Snow pack is well below avg. Bogus basin ski hill just opened yesterday, I think.
Early or late spring, who knows. I am hoping for early. Spring bear hunting is always good.

If you asked 5 days ago, the snowpack would have been about 50% of normal I would say on average throughout the state. That's a rough guesstimate, obviously some places have more than others, but basically, snow, even at 8,000 feet, was old and between 15-25 inches.
The past 3 days have brought anywhere between 2-6 feet to the highcountry throughout nearly the entire state. I think the prevailing opinion is that winter will be fairly normal from here on out, and perhaps late as la Nina is prescribed. Obviously, we can't say, but my guess is that we will see another wet April/May/June.
