South slope moose

I have been hunting moose on the south slope Uinta's. So far no luck, just wondering if anybody has seen anything. I have been in the Hell's canyon, yellowstone river area. No Bulls only cows and calf's. Planning to go into the Chapeta Lake area again this weekend unless I hear something better.

I am not familiar with the actual boundaries of the SS moose unit so some of these areas may be out of your unit, but here are a few suggestions. Have you tried Rock Creek, below the Upper Still Water?? I would tell you to move West. Hunt areas that boarder the Wasatch and Kamas units. Hades Canyon, Soapstone (if in your unit), Iron Mine, etc. There are some moose in Yellowstone to Limekiln.

That said, if you are seeing cow and calf moose then you will see bulls there in the next 2 weeks. The rut is just begining to come to their minds. Think Oct 1-5 for the rut to kick in and there will be bulls with those cows.
