Son's Nice 16A Late Season Bull

My son David got a nice bull in the Gilas this week. It was our first New Mexico hunt, and we couldn’t be happier. The country was beautiful. Scouted the unit a couple months ago, and we focused on our favorite area from that. For a late season bull hunt, it was no problem to find country all to ourselves. It appeared that 75% of hunters were tagging out- mostly on 2 year old bulls. David held out and found this good looking 6 point on the last day. He died less than a mile from a two-track- which for my 62 year old body was one heck of a blessing!

Hunting elk in the Gila ponderosa forest is as good as it ever gets, IMO.

Everybody should hunt rutting bulls in the ponderosa forests of New Mexico or Arizona, once in their life, if not more.
