I read this on another post. Does anyone see anything wrong with this story:
I guess I didn't think I would ever see this myself, but today I actually saw an antler fall off a buck! Shortly after hiking into my desired shed hunting location, I began to glass across the canyon at a large group of deer. They were all does, but three bucks were feeding about 500 yards below them an a "sage brush" type hillside. The biggest buck only had one antler. I watched them for about 15 minutes. I fantasized about seeing the antler fall off the large deer. Several times, the smaller bucks would spar. I also hoped that their activity might knock an antler loose. After a while I decided to continue looking for sheds on my ridge. As I continued hiking, I would periodically stop and glass back across at the bucks. No luck, they still hadn't dropped their bones. Within an hour, I had found 7 antlers and one really large skull. My pack was getting heavy so I started to head back. The bucks were barely visible now because they had fed down the ridge into some brush. Above them, in a glade, Several huge bucks (I mean huge!!!!!!!) were mingling with the does. In addition, several antlerless bucks also appeared. I figured I would cross over and see if I could find any more bones. Once on the other side of the canyon, I got within 150 yards of the three bucks I had spotted earlier. My dog was going nuts by now because he had seen so many deer and I hadn't let him run any yet. What the heck, I thought. He needs to have his fun too. I let him chase the three bucks. As the single antlered buck fled from my dog, I watched through my binos as his antler popped off and bounced several times on the ground. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, true happiness. Needless to say, I set a speed record running over to pick it up.
