hey everyone, finally got a chance to head out into the hills again so we hit up a spot that was good luck for us last year and this year is turning out to be the same, seen a couple of small bears too running around with us, our late afternoon trip ended with us taking out 4 sets and 3 singles, we had a blast, enjoy!

Dan, I see your buddy seems to have forgotten his back pack huh. Boy I bet he felt bad... It's a good thing he remembered the small pack for his water and pb&j sandwiches though! Did he give you a drink of water now and then for packing out all the sheds he found? That 4th picture from the bottom reminds me of a couple of trips I've had with NVMDF. He has a really hard time remembering his back pack sometimes too! :)

Those are some great elk sheds!

hey thanks everyone for the posts, just thought i'd share a little bit of my success with everyone, especially those who might not be able to get out into the hills right now, here's a few more pics from the trip, oh yea we didn't have to go very far for these ones, maybe half a mile to the base of the mtn, nothing serious and only covered the bowl and that was it...

That is quite a haul. You guys are doing it right. I use big binoculars alot when I get out too. I would rather find a bunch with my eyes, get a good location on them, and then go gather them up. I use a laser range finder and a GPS to project a bearing and distance to the sheds I spot. That way they are marked fairly accurately and I don't lose very many of them. You guys have a great shed hunting spot there. Be careful not to give it away. As soon as someone finds out where it is, it will spread like wildfire and it will all be over and you'll have to go find another spot. I wish I could go with you and help you to find some more before they're all gone. Let me know when you're going again.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-12-06 AT 04:12PM (MST)[p]Nice! Looks like too many bulls and not enough cows. There must have been some nice elk fights around there. Are most of the elk antlers you find around there broken up? When are you going to check the next bowl. I love when you find a jackpot, you guys did. Keep those pics coming! And if you need a pack goat just let me know, I'll bring my frame pack too.
