Do you guys have better luck finding horns when the ground is snow covered or when it is bare? We usually have 1' or better on the ground this time of year, but its been warm lately and there's very little left. Just wondering what anyone else out there thinks.

I prefer it when the snow melts and all the grass is flat , You can see along ways and antlers stick out allot better.

So now would be a good time to check if the bucks are dropping and go look for some bone. I have never had the time to go looking for shed in the winter, but I just figured that fresh sheds would be easier to spot against the white snow. The only time I really get to look for them is in the summer at work, but I'd like to start getting out just to look for some tine.

I look for mainly elk sheds. The snow doens't have mcuh of an effect on spotting them, but the more the snow, the fewer people there are who are willing to trudge around all day to find sheds, About 7 inches of snow should do the trick!

I prefer having snow on the ground for fresh whitetail sheds, although the two feet we have up here right now is a little too much. When I'm snooping for muledeer sheds, absolutely no snow is the best. I imagine everyone likes the rain because it keeps everyone else indoors?
