Sighting in Open Site Muzzy

I felt I better get the scopeless .50 cal dialed in @ the range before they shut 'em down for Fire Restrictions.


I drew LE Muzzy buck, so I want to be all dialed in for sure.


I got my Deadnuts target order and got it assembled.

I've been using Triple 7 for about the last 10-12 years/150 grains with the .295gr. Powerbelt.


This combo shoots very well out of my T/C .50 cal barrels.


I got the scoped and the scopeless T/C's ready to travel.


I'm not sure I would use a soft case for airline travel though.....

Once @ the Private/gated range, I got set-up


First the scopeless, then the scoped.


I've learned over time that ya shoot the open site first as it is screwy to go scoped then scopeless---mind muff.


100 yards, both did okay, so far.


I gotta go for this AM.

TSA wouldn’t let you check a soft case.

Looks like you used the stock sights from Thompson. Why not go for the Long range peep sight ? Your good a 100 how does 500 yards look ?

Nope, Open sites, no Peep site wanted---500 yards with a Muzzy---Geez, I'd rather Hunt and get closer.

I modified it for a quick set-up and I put it on Before looking through the viewfinder on my spotting scope.


No more 1 eye squinting, as I use my iPhone for viewing.



I simply added white marks for pre-alignment.



Like most everything, the more ya use it, the better ya get with it.

Here are some cow elk @ like 3/4 of a mile away.
Yeh, heatwaves already @ 0645/33 degrees.


And 1 of my Open site cow elk harvest.


Plus, I added the Magview Bino option on my 15 x 56's.
