I put a new sight on my bow recently and noticed what I think is a problem, but I don't know if it's my equipment, or me. I installed the Team Extreme sight on my Mathews Switchback XT. It seems like, when I take a long time to aim and concentrating heavily on the pin, it appears that the pin is doubled?!?! Not the pin, but the ball on the end of it. It's like if I stare at it long enough, I see double vision. I'm assuming this is just me, be what can I do to fix this problem? Maybe it was because the pins were so bright at that certain time of the day.
What do you think?

Are you shooting with both eyes open or do you close one eye? If you shoot with both eyes open it could just be an eye dominance problem. If so you'll have to trian your dominant eye to focus on the pin and not your other eye. Or try closing or partly closing your non-dominant eye.

Maybe I was shooting with both eyes open. I'll be paying attention to that now. I could have very well been lazy and not paying attention to all the details. I try to practice shooting under the least "ideal" conditions to prepare myself for actual hunting conditions. When I noticed this last night while shooting, I had just got back from an uphill run in 95 degree heat.

That's your problem right there. Never run uphill unless there is a bull at the finish line and had there been, that arrow would have been gone long before any vision problem.

I'm not trying to say that shooting with both eyes open is bad (I shoot with both eyes) I'm saying that if you do shoot with both eyes open it may take some practice. Good luck.

I've experienced the same problem with extended fiber pins, my personal oppinion is that the new pins with long fibers are too bright for all but the darkest situations. I have never had a problem shooting in any light conditions with standard pin length fibers. Just my $0.02.

I agree - I think that is the problem - the pins are too bright during the day. I've never seen pins this bright actually. Close to dark, it's not such an issue.

You guys may find a couple of these suggestions may help.

1)In most cases it's only one color or the size of the pin that seems to do this so if that's your issue change out that color or pin with one that will work.

2) You can put a piece of cardboard over the end of your sight like a hood to diminish the amount of light that passes through to the pins has helped some.

3) If you are over the age of 35 you may be seeing the effects of your eyes changing and may need glasses if you already have them you may need a slight prescription change to be able to view your pins right. If you have trouble reading small print this may be an indication.

4) If you are older and your prescription is fine you can go to your archery shop and look through a device made by specialty archery products called a Verifier lens that will clear up your pins through your peep for you they have different strengths and you should select the lowest power you can and make sure you look at something on a wall 10-20 yards away when picking it out. You have to buy a new peep for this but it works for some people quite well. I discovered this about a year ago when I had the same issues and it has helped me. If you're over 40 this one may actually work the best. Good luck and hope you get it solved.

I got a new sight called Black Gold...Flashpoint...This sight turns off the glow of the fiber optics in bright sunlight, but gets brighter as it gets dark...It works great and tighten my group big time during peak sunlight!
