Well. Right now there’s all sorts of teachers up in arms because they can’t tell 2nd graders they should be transvestites in Florida. Yup, mentally stable people we should arm unsupervised around our children then pat ourselves on the back because we “solved school shootings” good luck with that. I’d rather pay for more copsMaybe teachers here just aren’t average. Most teachers here are women, married to farmers, ranchers, railroaders, law enforcement and other able body men who hunt and fish and shoot. Most are already familiar with firearms and gun safety.
I don’t understand how people think that they can learn gun safety, carry a gun hunting or for personal protection but others just can’t do it. It’s an interesting thought process. Maybe only Police Officers should be armed because they have the most training right?
I believe what separates us from others around the world is The Constitution of the United States of America and it seems like half this country wants to tear it up and replace it with a “Feelings Document”.
Small towns can’t afford more cops! It’s extremely hard to get one officer in some of these towns, there’s not much to offer them, low pay and one convenience store and then you have the schools, that’s it. We have a few small towns that are speed traps, that’s how they generate much of the towns revenue.Well. God knows we could...
Ive said it before and I’ll say it again. Boomers are the most destructive generation this country has ever seen. United States of America just may not survive themIs that just an expression, or do you think an increased devotion to God may help the plagues of society?
In 1966, there were more "God-fearing" people around, and then the hippies began to run amok and now we have millennial teachers confusing 6 year old's on whether or not they are really a boy or a girl. All brought to you by the the philosophies developed by free thinking hippies...
You didn't back it up. You provided 2 examples where there are officers at the schools. I can dozens off the top of my head that don't have them. We can ask everyone on MM if their local schools have them, and get a better idea than just the bubble we live in.back it up? every school my kids have gone for to for the last 20 years i guess. my sister being a teacher and there always being a school resource officer on the grounds. pretty sure most major city school districts and precincts having this relationship. id guess not all schools have them full time but have an officer that include the school in there patrol. increasing that, in my opinion, is a far more viable and achievable solution to getting a bunch of granola crunching teachers to learn proficiency in fire arms and using them in a life threatening situation. dont you think?
I understand there’s not enough cops. What I’m saying is that’s the problem to solve because it actually could be solved. This “arm the teachers” is not viable and frankly a disaster waiting to happen. What happens when your next school shooter gets the gun for it out of the teachers desk?Small towns can’t afford more cops! It’s extremely hard to get one officer in some of these towns, there’s not much to offer them, low pay and one convenience store and then you have the schools, that’s it. We have a few small towns that are speed traps, that’s how they generate much of the towns revenue.
Officers have to travel in some instances up to an hour to grocery shop or find entertainment on their days off. Texas and New Mexico are covered with these small towns. New Mexico is the 5th largest State of the 50 but with 2 million people ranks 36th in population and 46th In population density.
Speaking of Florida, I don’t live in Florida, where I live we don’t have teachers talking about nonsense in their classrooms. Parkland Florida is also the place where Nikolas Cruz killed 17 and wounded another 17 at Stoneman Douglas High School. AND there was a RESOURCE OFFICER, (Sheriffs Deputy) right there when the little animal murdered those students. We will never know if just one teacher had a gun how many life’s might have been saved that day.
Boomers know the difference between a boy and a girl even without being a biologist. Boomers know what a dog is even though they are not a veterinarian and boomers don’t need half a dozen pronouns to describe themselves.
Boomer…Boomers know the difference between a boy and a girl even without being a biologist. Boomers know what a dog is even though they are not a veterinarian and boomers don’t need half a dozen pronouns to describe themselves.
Again. Need to consider the group you’d like to arm. Knock down the cop and get his gun ok“If” my grandmother had balls she would be my grandfather. We could play ifs all day. What happens “if”a kid sneaks up on an officer, knocks him out and gets his gun?
When you’ve had kids over to your house did you secure your guns or did you leave them in desks and laying around? I’ve already given you a myriad of examples why smaller schools don’t have resource officers. This is a poor State, we can’t keep raising taxes on the middle class.
She exist because of the boomer generationI suppose your a fan of Occasio-Cortez.
Maybe you just have a coward cop like the example I provided you in Florida. We are playing the “if” game today right?Again. Need to consider the group you’d like to arm. Knock down the cop and get his gun ok
A "little research" shows that less than half of our schools have officers on campus. Of course that percentage changes per the enrollment of the school. I travel to dozens of high schools in our state and haven't run into a officer on campus in years.A little research will prove that statement is true. Most secondary schools have officers on campus. Our smaller rural high school has one. He's the guy I asked about armed teachers. Refer to my earlier post. There is much more to his job than just being there to prevent a shooting. He teaches criminal justice, busts kids for driving to school before they had a license (common with farm kids, haha), handles students who break laws, etc.
you cant fix everything but can you. you can stack the deck in your favor however. i for one am glad my last kid in school will be next year with my youngest daughter ad there is a full time officer onsite. one of whom i've personally talked to several times and have a lot of faith in the mans ability to do his job.Maybe you just have a coward cop like the example I provided you in Florida. We are playing the “if” game today right?
I live in a town of about 50,000 people. There are 18 schools here, the High School has a Police presence at times. This city averages deploying 4 Officers for a day shift! Yep just 4! They are good at responding to crime, but never get there in time to completely prevent it. It amazes me to think we have people out there who own guns and are totally against other people protecting themselves and children. Must be a millennial thing.A "little research" shows that less than half of our schools have officers on campus. Of course that percentage changes per the enrollment of the school. Is there just one officer at you girls school? Sounds like your kids school has some major issues. those are the kinds of people we want in positions to protect our kids. not the hippie English teacher that forgets what period it is much less did she lock that desk drawer before she went to lunch or not?
shes in a charter school of about 150 kids and one building. hes got it coveredIs there just one officer at you girls school? Sounds like your kids school has some major issues. Have you thought about homeschooling?
im carrying right now. im with homer about the vet janitor with a 1911 on him. im also not against a teacher carrying if he/she carrys anyway and just doesn't say anything. im fully against official policy of mandating arming teachers because your going to , not you might, but going to put a gun in the hands of someone that has no business carrying a gun.I live in a town of about 50,000 people. I don’t believe one person on here said to mandate teachers to carry a firearm. I hope he doesn’t get sick or go on vacation or have an emergency to tend to off school grounds or for that matter goes out to lunch or grabs a cup of coffee. Surely there is a backup plan for any of the aforementioned.shes in a charter school of about 150 kids and one building. hes got it covered
title of the thread is "should teachers be armed these days" implying all teacher being armed presumably by the state they work for.I don’t believe one person on here said to mandate teachers to carry a firearm. Thank God we don’t have the teacher issues here you have where you live.
just give it up dude. your looking silly now.just talking in circlesI hope he doesn’t get sick or go on vacation or have an emergency to tend to off school grounds or for that matter goes out to lunch or grabs a cup of coffee. Surely there is a backup plan for any of the aforementioned.
So you’re the only one who can “presume” something on this thread. Stating you presume “all” after over 100 posts is definitely a grasp for straws. You’re right, time to give it up. We definitely live in two different worlds. We can agree to disagree on this one.title of the thread is "should teachers be armed these days" implying all teacher being armed presumably by the state they work for.

haven't even broached on this subject yet. lets think about school administrators and what they would have to deal with. school with 2000 kids, so lets say 4000 parents or so, im sure all very like minded. go ahead and send out that note to home saying "hey parents i'm going to have teachers packing loaded guns around you kid!" that's not going to cause any problems or make dealing with them a principals full time job, not to mention now he/she is being asked to manage an armed staff. good luck getting a school district to go alongIf I was a teacher and the principal came up to me and said "We're looking for a few good teachers who are willing to carry and be responsible for taking out a bad guy if the need arises, can we count on you?". I would have a few questions: What does it pay and what are my specific duties? Can I carry an M-16 and grenades? Will you provide body armor? What is my liability (both criminally and civilly) if kids die due to my actions or inactions? Will you have my back? I'm in California and belong to the union, will I have to clear it with them? Is Mrs. Jones going to slap me in the face if her kid dies before I can safely deal with the situation?
Thanks for reading! Skip along not SS!Ha! Yeah, I’m not ss. But you are sure an internet bad ass. Thanks for the entertainment

It's in a big part due to the easy accessibility of guns. this Easter rather than have egg hunts lets start hiding grenades everywhere for kids to find. now what do you supposed the odds are there would be more kids killed by grenades each year after we changed to Easter grenades ? go ahead and teach the kids what grenades are for and tell the bad kids they can't play with them. I'm sure they'll obey the rules all kids do.
So what do we do about it ? carry grenades and blow up anyone who you think is going to toss a grenade at you. that seems to be the answer we've been doubling down on for years and look how well it's worked.
Now lets get teachers to keep grenades in their desk and then all the kids will be safer from grenades. see how simple it all is ?
I live about 2 hours from there. I’m glad to see people exercising their Constitutional Right.View attachment 73661

We didn't have school shootings back in the 50's and 60's and anybody could walk into a store and buy a gun and walk out with it. I could even order a gun from Herter's catalog. Something else has changed since that time,It's in a big part due to the easy accessibility of guns. this Easter rather than have egg hunts lets start hiding grenades everywhere for kids to find. now what do you supposed the odds are there would be more kids killed by grenades each year after we changed to Easter grenades ? go ahead and teach the kids what grenades are for and tell the bad kids they can't play with them. And.....there were a lot more schools in the1980's than there were in the 1940's, but the same number of shootings? We're actually doing better. The earliest known school shooting was on July 26, 1764.
1800’s had 11 school shootings.
1900-1930 had 16
1940’s had 11
1950’s had 17
1960’s had 11
1970’s had 6
1980’s had 12
1990’s well you see where I’m going with this. There has always been school shootings. What there hasn’t been is 24 hour Nation wide news reporting and social media.

Pretty sure that exactly what’s happening now………. maybe kind of works out best that way. When da boss don’t do it, da folks just sort it out for they selvesDepends on the teacher. For some teachers being armed is a great idea, for others not such a great idea.
What about God and the Flag being removed from all thingsGuns were more accessible to kids in the 50’s-80’s than they are now. What’s changed is society is different. Divorce rates are much higher, many more single parents. More kids on their own when the single parent is working. Parents use to discipline kids, now they call the Dr. & he pumps them full of Ritalin or any number of other pharmaceuticals. Bullying was handled in school by their piers, & teachers used to be able to discipline students when they did get out of line. Anyone ever get swats from a coach or teacher? A big wooden paddle with holes drilled in it saw my backside a few times in school. Those teachers & coaches today would be prosecuted. I had a sore ass for a few hours then forgot about it, no big deal. Oh and there were only 2 genders. Kids must be so confused nowadays. It seems so many educators are teaching kids everything but what they need to learn to become productive adults
Religion should be taught at home or in church if a parent wishes that for their kids. It has no place being pushed in public schools. What about God and the Flag being removed from all things
possible?
Skipping along big internet boomer boss. Don’t get too emotional at me, everybody can see you’re just confused and angry. Good thing your generation is on the way out. BwahahahaThanks for reading! Skip along not SS!

Or maybe you are wrong.
But they aren't doing "many things" in that sentence.Or maybe you are wrong.
“If the collective noun (staff) is acting as a single unit, use the singular verb: “The staff is very efficient.” If the collective noun is meant to highlight the actions of discrete individuals who are all doing different things, use the plural verb: “The staff are working on many projects for the holiday party.”
But they could be. Some may be armed with guns, some with knives, some with grenades like Togpottee suggested. But they aren't doing "many things."

Why should patriotism and not religion? This is a Christian country, founded by Christians. Choosing one over the other is a personal preference. We have catered to the minority radical groups too much over the decades and that’s why we find ourselves in the mess we are in, in my opinion.Religion should be taught at home or in church if a parent wishes that for their kids. It has no place being pushed in public schools.
Patriotism definitely should be celebrated and encouraged.
Not everyone is religious and it should not be crammed down everyone’s throat. Why should patriotism and not religion? This is a Christian country, founded by Christians. Never felt “The Strap”. A limber, 1/2 thick bull hide, spit polished black leather. palm of the hand beater. Wheeled across the palm of the hand by the classroom teacher, in front of the trembling on lookers.Anyone ever get swats from a coach or teacher? A big wooden paddle with holes drilled in it.
OkThis is not a Christian nation and the founding fathers went to great lengths to insure it wasn't. they weren't all Christians either for that matter.
Some believe the Founders considered Atheism a religion, in that a belief that there is no God, (regardless of what God is) is an ideology, as much like a religion as a religion, in that ideology shapes an individuals thinking and his/her/it’s behavior. Therefore allowing Atheism to control or influence the State is the same as allowing any individual religion to control State. This is not a Christian nation and the founding fathers went to great lengths to insure it wasn't. they weren't all Christians either for that matter.
You may be right. It's true check it out.
Patriotism on the other hand should be crammed down everyone's throat. no matter what color, religion or place you come from if you're an American you have an obligation to respect and protect your nation. and I'm talking the greatest generation style patriotism not this skin head crap where you beat cops with a flag pole and call yourself a patriot.
I'm not sure genuine patriotism would stop school shootings but it would solve a lot of other problems.
Talking about religion is about the same as talking about big game hunting………like elbows……You may be right.
If 75% of this Nation were Hunters you would say this is a hunting Nation. If 75% were democrats you would say this is a democrat Nation. But having 75% Christians in this country doesn’t make us a Christian Nation. Interesting. Our Founding Fathers had quotes both for and against Christianity.
If you’re an American don’t you have the right to Freedom of Speech. Freedom to burn the flag if you desire. Great men and women have fought wars granting us that freedom. Law abiding People are free to be as stupid as they want in this country without persecution. RIGHT.
You may just be right.
I’ll end this right here for me. We are not going to solve religion or political issues ever, especially on a hunting forum. politics is a lot more fun to talk about here though…Good luck to all.
Amen & a goodnight.I’ll end this right here for me.
So....when did you take the Strap back 2Lumpy?I mentioned The Strap in a previous post. Curiosity got the best of me this afternoon so I did a little “googling”. Came up with the following.
'The Strap' least of their worries
The public schools of the 1950s and ‘60s were not the best places for young children or even teenagers. Physical punishment was still allowed, i.e. strapping, and was used liberallywww.kelownadailycourier.ca
You kidding me…… I was so scared of that thing I crapped my pants just seeing it, let alone touching it…… “PTSD babies” is how Canadian high school graduates are defined north of the 49th, prior to the 1980’s.So....when did you take the Strap back 2Lumpy?
I never heard of the strap in my schools. That should be reserved for thieves.
2Lumpy, you may have been borned in Canada but in an endearing way you're now a Utar......oops, never mind. You kidding me…… I was so scared of that thing I crapped my pants just seeing it, let alone touching it…… “PTSD babies” is how Canadian high school graduates are defined north of the 49th, prior to the 1980’s.
