My buddy (muledeernut here on MM) and I had the day off of work so we went for a short hike this morning. I found a pretty good set of sheds (good size for central CA) and my buddy found a nice winter kill.

The days totals..Not bad for a 2 hour hike...

very nice sheds! where are you guys located in central cali? We have a cattle ranch 30 miles east of fresno. i went shed hunting up there in the end of february and the deer still had their headgear, but i did find a nice 3X skull. did they all shed in your area?

Thanks for the comments fella's..

deerhuntsalot,

These were from public ground in Madera county. Where abouts is your ranch? I live above auberry and hike all over the hills between bass lake and Pine flat Lake.

I would say 75% off the bucks have shed around here.

off the 180 kings highway, we are right below the seqoia national forest.

Some times the short hikes take us to the places others hurry by. My daughter just picked up a sweet whitetail winter kill that was only 200 yards from a year around camp ground!

Time in the hills is always worth more than money
