Thinking about applying for sheep in ID. Any outfitter recommendations? I know it is a long shot but seems like good odds for sheep.

Idaho does not have good odds for drawing a sheep tag. Since both non-res and res go into the same draw, and a non-res can only draw up to 10% of the quota the chances of getting a sheep tag historically have been around 2%. (last year there were 7 non-res tags for 1037 applicants; 2007 had 5 non-res tags for 1036 applicants). The myth of good drawing odds for sheep and goat keeps getting re-newed every year for some reason.

That being said, a guy has to be in the game to have a chance, and the odds may be better this year due to the big increase in the cost of the non-refundable license. One of the go to sheep guides in Idaho would have to be Mike Scott of Whitecloud Outfitters.

Best of luck to you, flyingbrass!

Hate to say it, but 2% is good draw odds for sheep. Anyway, the myth of good draw odds is a carryover from when ID used to just have a one tag per hunt # on nonresidents, and no 10% total cap. So there were hunts with better than 1:10 draw odds. Now the 10% total cap will likely have been met before those odds come into play.
