I have access to 2,000 acres of private land near dry canyon just outside of vernal, anyone have any insight into whether or not the deer use this area for a winter range, and if so, whats the average size of bucks you could expect to find out there?

Do you mean Dry Fork Canyon, I've never herd of Dry Canyon. Ether way dont exspect much, the whole area around vernal is Genral Season and gets pounded during the hunts. You could get lucky and find a decent set of sheds though but if you find any it will most likely be small 2s and 3s.

Most of Dry Fork has houses in it, all the way up till it reaches the forrest so if it is Dry Fork I wouldnt even bother.

I live in Vernal and have never heard of dry canyon either. It must be Dry Fork, and like JakeH said you'll only find small 2 points around there.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-26-09 AT 02:04PM (MST)[p]Hey if that is near the diamond mountain unit. My wife,Dad and I had a blast out there harvesting the does just last year. Depending on the year you could be into them pretty heavily or they would be few and far.

I shot a decent 4x3 two years ago in dry fork...that being said...don't expect any sheds of quality my deer was the exception to the rule
