That's actually right around where I shed hunt. I usually go a little south of Weed though just because I'm more familiar with the area. I'm not a local and you might be, but definitely find out where the elk/deer are hanging out. I don't really know as it varies from year to year. I like to talk to the locals; they can be helpful in locating the elk/deer. I think the elk and mule deer begin to shed there around mid March. I've had a tough time finding fresh sheds at that time though as most of the bulls and bucks are still packin' their head gear. I know there has been a lot of snow there lately, and it may be melted by now. I was up that way two weeks ago and only the south facing slopes were melted. If that's still the case when the bucks and bulls shed, target those areas because the animals will be feeding and bedding in the open areas not covered with snow. If everything is melted, find out where the animals are and hike and then hike some more. I'm not an expert, but think this might help. I definitely have had my share of hard times finding sheds out there. It's all about finding where the animals are and timing. Check out my post "Big NM 6x6" further down the page. I found those two weeks ago up that way. Not fresh drops, but still awesome in my opinion.
Happy shed huntin'
