You caught me. It's probably not the same elk. I spotted a broken bottom half from a pretty big bull a couple of years ago on the Monroe unit in Utah. I guided a shed hunting buddy into it with my radio, and when he got to it he told me it was just a stick. I told him to hold it up so I could see it, but he said "No, I'm not going to hold up a stick for you". I was nearly a mile away, but I told him to just leave it there and I would go get it. I guess that conviced him that it was an antler, so he went ahead and picked it up and showed me. It had great mass and pretty good tine length and probably came from a 360-370 class bull. I wonder if he won the fight?
