Wow great to see the good responses. No its not illegal to have sheep heads, you used to have to have them sealed but no longer. The one set of sheds I put on a skull plate and the other is a dead head that was broken like it shows. Great to explain to you!

+1 In Nevada you can pick up dead heads legally and you used to have to seal the sheep. And for the deer, also in nevada you CAN pick up the dead heads with no problems. This freakin guy is as lucky as they get with finding stuff, yes you brandon, but I love the pics and look forward to seeing if you get the big one this week. Good luck Brandon!!

Those are some great heads and sheds. Each state is different when it comes to dead heads. Arizona is cool about it as long as you call them first and let them take a look at it. I was in an area where a guy found a fairly fresh 400 bull. He called the game and fish and they came right out. They were very gratefull he made the call and had no problem with him taking the head. Now in Utah it's a different story. They will no way, no how let you have the head no matter the size. I refuse to call them anymore. It's no wonder they get such a bad rap here in Utah. Their cowboy attitude and scare tactics have really turned off the law abiding sportsmen. And they could really use they're help. Just my two cents...Congrats on some great finds!!!

Congrats on the finds......what do you mean by "seal" the sheep? I know when I found one in 2003 I had to have it "plugged" = a federal register number on a metal button placed in the horn.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-02-08 AT 07:18PM (MST)[p]Nice finds!!! Love to pick up the rams too!!!

Time in the hills is always worth more than money

Utah will let you under certain situations, read the proclamation. If it died of natural causes, call it in and give them pictures and GPS.

This is exactly why i dont post anything on this website. Because you have people like ditchparrot and huntn30inches.

easy sneeke01, I didn't mean to "ruffle your feathers". Maybe I was confused by the wording of the original post. In Utah, it is illegal to gather dead heads as the first picture of the deer horns obviousely were "cut off's". But this is a forum to discuss all different views and opinions people have. I do like all the pictures and they are all awesome finds.
It's your problem if you couldn't handle the comments, good or bad, that people post about your pictures.

Ya, I think the cute little girl and her big brother snuck out and popped them a couple rams and bucks one night and decided to show the world. Those little farts are actually repeat poachers who travel all over to collect white bone and other misc. racks. FELONS FOR SURE and dad is the ring leader.

Cute kids and great finds....thanks for sharing.

In Utah we have something called "Poaching", people will poach trophy game and instead of risking getting the animal out after the shot, they will wait for the winter to eat away the evidence and then collect the antlers after the winter.
I think the DWR is smart in not allowing anybody to take the heads from animals found dead. There are too many poaching "Utards" here, and justice needs to be served.

I do think that if an "Average Joe" finds a head, and the DWR sees no evidence of poaching and sees no point in further investigation, they should let the guy have the head. In some cases they do that.
