Just thought I'd try to post some pics I hope it works. First one is a pretty nice muley shed. Second one is me with a set of 6x6 sheds I found one evening that are all tangled up in some really heavy guaged wire. I found these while archery elk hunting this year. Enjoy

cool elk shed find!

a few years back i found a 5x6 bull that had wrapped his horns up in old telegraph wires at an abandoned mine site, gotten them wrapped around a couple of 4-inch trees, ripped the 4-inch trees out of the ground, then proceeded to get the wires wrapped around an 8-inch tree and evidently died of dehydration or starvation. i don't have any stills of my find but i do have some crummy 15mm video w/o sound...too bad i don't have any still shots since i am sure i won't find anything like that again in my lifetime!

Please tell me you left the wire intact. That is with out a doubt a one-in-a-million-find!

Oh I left it all on there alright. I bet there's 50' of that stuff on there. Now what do I do with them is the ?. It's a small 6x6 and quite old, the end of the points are starting to fall apart.

Tell you what I'd do. Make a high gloss hard wood pedestal mount for them. You know, beauty and the beast. It would make a real nice contrast and would look awesome in your gun room!

?It's all about the gut pile?

antlerboy,

For my find: I cut off the tree just above the mass of telegraph wire, dug up the tree and removed it roots and all, packed it out skull-and-all, and "planted it" in my yard!

I would think you could do the same in your wife's flower garden.

You know I think they're neat but I'm not really gonna go to all that work. It's laying next to the rose bushes on the side of the house right now. If they were newer antlers I think I'd like them a lot better but man these things are really old. Berto, that is a good story about yours and I like sneakattacks idea too but then again I don't have a gun room either.

Thats cool that he had the wire in and then shed the antlers.

Hey Josh, you have found some fantastic sheds, I looked through an album somewhere...maybe NASHC site? You found like the top couple elk sheds huh?

That is too cool. Are they res sheds or do you find them public land?

Hornseeker, Thanks for compliment. I walk my tail off to find what I do. You could have seen the album on there or my site possibly, I've got a ton more on there but I seriously need to update the photos on there. I find all my sheds on public land, sheddin on the rez is serious felony stuff and I'm not one to play around with that. Look at the Antlerboy's great day link, I put "how they lay" pics on there but I doubt many people will see them since that's an old post.

I cant imagine walking up on a 200 inch elk shed. YOu must have nearly crapped.
