What's your favorite method of mounting deer sheds? I want to give a set as a Christmas present and wanted opinions. Thanks in advance.

The mountain mikes are a good way to get them on a skull. Find some old barn wood that has the right shape and build a plaque that will display the skull out away from the wall at about a 45 degree angle . . . I'll also wrap some old barbed wire around the burr and hang them on the wall, which looks pretty cool and is very easy.

sounds like a very cool mount. do you have any pictures? i'd love to see them!

Here's a set I mounted on a MM reproduction skull. Kind of a wierd set of sheds.

Here's a few pics. For the plaque I used an old piece of wood I found that had the right shape. It's a little long, but it had the right shape without having to cut it. I think it gives it a neat natural/rustic look. Then I used a section from a 4" diameter log for the horizontal piece, and a old piece of weathered cedar for the back . . .

That looks awsome, I got a bunch of old barn wood and some old ceder posts with the green and orange moss on them that would look good. I cut a slab off about a 12" ceder log cut the back of it on a angle and were the nose comes down theres a busted branch, it turned out awsome.

He's stud all right. The antlers are actually cut-offs from a lion-killed deer and not natural sheds. I have only one side from the year before. As they sit on the MM skull, they're just shy of 200".

Elkster, those arrowhead plaques are neat! Do the skulls you sell come with the bar stock in them? I like the idea of being able to take the antlers off and on.

HiMtn, no they don't come with the rod in them. I add that when I mount the sheds. Alot of guys like to be able to take off their sheds and still be able to handle them.
