Shed Mounts to the Taxi?

Just wondering if anyone has had a full mount done with a set of sheds? Is there an unwritten rule that says you should not do it because the animal wasn't hunted and killed? I have a set and wanted to do a skull mount but I did not like any of the options I saw. Any suggestions?

LAST EDITED ON May-02-10 AT 07:31PM (MST)[p]I've had several sets of sheds mounted on shoulder mounts and Euro's. I've heard comments like "Why'd you mount them, their just sheds?" The buck grew the trophy rack whether you shot it or found it. If you think its worth the expense to you, then mount it. I neither have room or enough money to spend on a full body mount. Would be cool to do if you have.

The first set of sheds I ever had mounted got lot's of video of him that winter and the one after and his sheds from the year before

As mentioned above, sometimes finding a good shed is as hard as finding a shooter while hunting. Finding the other side can be even more difficult. If the sheds have enough meaning to you to justify the cost go for it. I'm a much bigger fan of someone that has a mount in their house or cabin that they had something to do with. Either you found the sheds, or you took the buck, or it was the buck your late grandpa shot, ect. A mount should bring back memories every time you see it.

Your the one who will see it the most. If it brings you good memories of time in the field then who cares what someone elses opinion is.

sorry for the quality the video is starting to get old, 1996 and it's been watched alot. We spent a long time setting the horns as close as we could, used another guys video that was much better quality when setting him up

he was between 41 and 43 inches wide 3 by 4, the year before he was right at 34-35 inches wide and the year after he was right around 38 inches wide

Hey Rug - if you get down this way stop in and I'll show you some full mounts done with sheds. They turn out great and I'm as proud of them as I am some of the ones I've shot.

It's always an adventure!!!
