shed hunting in fresh snow

It's snowing in SW Idaho and I'm thinking of cancelling my weekend plans to shed hunt. How many of you have experience hunting in fresh snow for sheds?

Does the snow on antlers generally melt faster than the surrounding brush or ground?

Thanks.

Depends on how much snow. South slopes melt off quickly once the sun comes out, but it's usually a pain to walk due to the slimy mud. If horn is above the rest of the cover they will melt off quickly but are still hard to spot. If you're not harassing the deer it's still an outing.

I've found sheds in fresh snow (2-3 inches) but it seems that every time I go back after the snow has melted, I find several more that I missed in the snow. I don't usually go out in the snow because I don't want to hunt the same place multiple times. I spend most of Feruary scouting even though a bunch of the deer have already lost their horns. I hunt the bare ground in March and April when i already have a good idea of where they are. It puts less pressure on the deer as well.

Me and a few buddies went out yesterday morning. We got about 1-2 inches of snow Saturday night and it made it really tough. We found 4 sheds total (3 fresh) but pretty much had to trip on em to do it. Next time I wont go the day after a fresh storm and let it melt. And plus, the snow made my legs sore as hell today!
