LAST EDITED ON Dec-08-11 AT 04:19PM (MST)[p]This horse was a packhorse during the Korean war. She carried recoilless rifles, ammunition and supplies to Marines. Nothing too unusual about that, lots of animals got pressed into doing pack chores in many wars.

But this horse did something more?.during the battle for a location called Outpost Vegas, this mare made 51 trips up and down the hill, on the way up she carried ammunition, and on the way down she carried wounded soldiers? What was so amazing? Well she made every one of those trips without anyone leading her.

Imagine a horse carrying a wounded soldier, being smacked on the rump at the top of the hill, and heading back to the ?safety? of the rear. Now imagine the same horse, loaded with ammunition, trudging back to the battle where artillery is going off and without anyone leading her.

She would make 51 of those trips. Most horses wouldn't even make it back to the barn once, let alone return to the field again and again.

How To Hunt Coues Deer

Tony,

There is a new movie coming out in theaters on Christmas Day called "War Horse" but I don't think this is about the same horse, seems like the pre-views I seen recently at the theater was more like WWI or WW2.....don't matter I will go see this War Horse later this month.

That is a cool story. I wish my dad was alive to see it. He was in a cavalry unit in WWII. Got kicked in the head by a mule and that was it for him. Still loved horses though and likely wouldn't have changed a thing.

Compromise, hell! ... If freedom is right and tyranny is wrong, why should those who believe in freedom treat it as if it were a roll of bologna to be bartered a slice at a time?
