I think the initial setup of a bow is fairly simple with some inexpensive tools, but then it comes down to shooting it through paper or group tuning it, so I don't know if a pro-shop is neccesary if you have a good INDOOR range. If you do go to a pro shop, ask them if they offer classes in field maintenace and tuning. That way if you bump something out of whack while hunting, you can fix it.
bow specific tools required:
centershot gauge
nock pilers (if using a nock point and not a loop
bow square
string separator
serving tool
This list of tools and some allen wrenches and cone wrenches should be about all you need unless you need to do some real work on a bow (like replacing strings, cables, cams, and limbs or synchronizing cams (two cams and hybrid cam bows)).
