Screen Names???

Growler

Guest
Hey guys,

I thought it would be cool for everyone to tell us about the screen name they chose and why?

My screen name is Growler, because I have been hunting this one bull in Id for 3-4 years now and I'm on him every year, and yes you have guessed it he has eluded me every year. We have named him Growler because of his distinct bugle. I sounds like a deep deep prehistoric growl right out of the dionsaur era.

nock it, pull it, fling it.

AZtrophyhunter, because I'm from AZ & because I've killed a spike elk, raghorn bull elk, cow elk, two point deer, & spike deer. The cow elk & spike deer were kiled w/ my bow. I am the true definition of a trophy hunter! Yeah, hopefully the G&F will be good to me this year & allow me the opportunity to raise my standards.

meatinthepot

My parents gave me the nickname as I was on my mission in England. They said it was because they missed all the meat in the pot (venison) that I would provide when I was home.

If you ever meet me you will know why I have this nickname , was given to me by my fellow houndsmen .

Dirtysteve off Young Guns the movie is my hero plus it's one of the alltime great must own movies

GET DOWN---because im tall, and durning duckseason my buddies are always telling me to GETDOWN

i was introduced to elk hunting 10 years ago, my mentors were old vetrans of the sport,
one was a retired 72 year old, retired major general.
he and i both had the "can do attitude" after the first week of classes in the field, he made a coment to the rest of the party,
said i came a long way the first year but it is like school every year you learn a little more,
he called me elkmaster and i just had my first class.
kind of like starting from the begining, class 101
so here i am 10 years down that learning road still learning,
elkmaster101
heck i know i shoud have graduated and be carring a DR, and PHD around the name, but i plan on continuing my education in the field for some time on.
you know " professional student"

My sons gave me this handle because I love to bowhunt and I am a orange and blue bronco fan. To get under my skin they call them the ponys.

In my office here at work I keep the horns of a buck my grandfather killed in the Soup Creek drainage just northeast of Helena, Montana in the 1960's. It is a 160-170 class 4x4 with no browtines. I keep it tucked behind my desk for couple reasons. It keeps me dreaming on those LONG days at work, and I don't want anybody to steal it.

Mine actually has nothing to do with hunting. I started a downhill mountain bike racing team, Tiny Cog Racing. Since I was the first guy, I use TCR1.

Mine is the same as Ed's........my personalized license plate reads.....BO HNTR.

BOHNTR )))-------------->

I was trying to think of an e-mail address and as always wanted something in reference to what I love, Muleys. Have had it for quite a few years and just use it for everything I have to log into now. Like Bohntr I want to get a license plate but don't know what other letter to take out, already taken out the a and e.

Mountaineer well i use it because i love the the West Virgina Mountaineers and im proud to be from West by God Virgina. Plus hillbilly was already taken!

Well I chose mine because it is so hard to draw a tag here in AZ. I had to take up bow hunting if I ever wanted to get out and be able to hunt. And now I love it.

KEENER
A man who is an exceptional shot.

I am not really an exceptional shot but I can get the job done. I found the term here, http://www.xmission.com/~drudy/amm/gloss.html

A Glossary of American Mountain Men Terms, Words & Expressions, Compiled by Walt Hayward & Brad McDade,

I liked the terms link to our western frontier history.

Mine doesn't have anything to do with hunting. My house and property are on the banks of the Sultan River here in Washington, and we just happen to live on one of the better steelhead drifts on the river. Died in the wool steelhead junky.
Ironhead

From Wrestling Been called Gator more then my legal name, it the only name people call me now.

ironhead....your secrets out!! It just so happens that next to my first passion, Mulies, steelhead fishin' comes next. Love fishing the Sultan, a lot of little honey holes where people don't really know about.

Can't really explain mine, just thought it was catchy and people would remember it. All of the names I had thought of were taken or there were names very similar already.

My friends tell me that I am addicted to horns because in 30 years of hunting I have never killed a doe or cow. They havent all been monsters but they have all had horns!

First name is Dean, work for a company that makes Xacto blades and other metal products

The reason I picked my screen Name is because my first mule deer was tall he was 20" wide and 24 1/2 tall.

I've already posted about my screen name on this thread (#12). I thought you guys might enjoy a picture of the buck I mentioned. For me its like (kind of like this website) a window out of hell into a far better world of bliss. I hope this helps take you guys there for a moment.

TAQUKAQ = Brown Bear in Yup'ik Eskimo. I ran with this name for years after one of the elders in the village I trapped with gave me this as a nick name. After I researched this word "TAQUKAQ I found that in the northern Bering Sea area this word means "SEAL GUT" so maybe he was just foolin' with me after all. Your not able to pronounce this in english. They use the same letters (not all of the letters) but they don't sound the same.

I chose huntinman because I hunt everything. Jack of all trades and master of none. I started hunting as small boy my dad would shoot jackrabbits and I would finish them off with my BB gun. Nowadays I still hunt all I can from birds to bulls. My 8 year old boy just got strong enough to pull back his first bow and my 4 year old boy does a mean bull elk call with just his mouth.
My huntin career will be complete when me and my boys arrow a big bull together. I just hope I'm not so old WHEN we get him that they have to gut me and pack me out. HA HA

Wife needed a email address for me and I am a sub contractor and do siding for a living and 34 was my age and hence supersider34. Also my personalized plates read SPRSIDR on my truck. So if you ever see my truck mule deer hunting you have found my honey hole.LOL

Native1 was a short version for native2mtns (my e-mail. Mountains are the place I feel the most at home (as close to Heaven as you can get on earth) I like to say. This was a good question Growler as I am always interested as to the nic's also and enjoy peoples creativeness.

My brother us to call me Hondo The Great. I incorporated archer because I love archery hunting even if I don't get anything (I'm too picky). When my brother was 15 and I was 16 we found a neighbor who had a recurve bow and when archery hunting in Idaho. We went out and bought bows and arrows on our own and practice all summer (no sights). I shot at a huge 4 point buck and have been hooked ever since.

Had a lic. plate with LV2HNT (love to hunt) on my '71 Bronco; I sometimes reflect back and think of all the memories associated with it ...

I'm a Idaho Hunter that loves to hunt with a bow. The challenge is incredible!!!

Using the same screen name I have on highpower rifle sites. I am a competitive iron sight service rifle (AR-15) shooter out to 1000 yards. In our sport there is an Excellence in Competition Match commonly known as a leg match. Contested with no sighters allowed, slow and rapid fire strings from 200 through 600 yards with standing, sitting and prone (no benches allowed) positions used. Possible perfect score 500. 500 has only been fired 2 times by military shooters who train all year. My highest score is 495 hence my name. This year there has not been a 495 fired as of August 1.

Being that I shoot rifles so much, its easy to kill with them out to long ranges(last years caribou was 802 yards) so I mostly bowhunt and dabble off and on in pistol and muzzleloader hunts to make it more entertaining. I've progressed to mostly using a custom recurve for bowhunting. Though I'm debating going back to my compound in case I get a shot at a moose in 2006 in Alaska. Of course a heavy shaft and good 2 blade Zwickey would probably work fine in the recurve.

I have been a trapper and hunter all my life. In the late 60s I caught around 400 skunks and boy did my neighbors hate it, so they started calling my house skunk $hit and eventualy the name made it's way to me
