Yesterday, Dryflyelk and I spent the morning exploring some new country on the Wasatch extended unit. We had a great time learning a new area. In addition to getting some exercise, we also saw some good deer and elk.
The highlight of the morning was to sneak within 75 yards of a nursery herd of elk. The cows and calves were lazily laying in a high mountain meadow chewing their cud and soaking up the sun. Dryflyelk took some video footage on his I-Phone (probably not the greatest quality). Hopefully, he will provide a link once it is downloaded to youtube.
The low point of the morning came on our drive hom when we saw this bull that had been recently hit by a car. What a loss! This was a great bull, especially for an open bull unit.
August 21st will be here soon!
