Alright fellas, finally broke down and bought a bigger spotter (20-60x85) and got a phone skope with the universal adapter. Not pleased at all so far….I didn’t realize it requires an app, camera doesn’t line up well at all, it only works on landscape and not portrait, pretty cumbersome to attach and detach.

Anybody have recommendations? I’ve got the Viper HD 20-60x85 and an iPhone 12 Pro. I’ve always just held my phone by hand but would like to get some better quality video/photo. Thanks in advance fellas, Happy Thanksgiving! ?

Found some bucks to cooperate with the camera today

For the most part It all depends on the phone, my 11 works awesome with the scopecam. But the newer iPhones have such complicated cameras not to mention there’s three of them. That it just doesn’t work with the regular phone settings and you have to download and use that obnoxious app. I would assume that’s how it would be for all brands of adapters but I’m not sure ?‍♂️

If you are in Albuquerque I have a Magview you can test drive. I don’t anticipate using it until January.
I might have to take you up on that because that is top on my list now. I am worried about the three cameras I have because it seems to switch depending on how much you zoom. Does Magview have an app?

Yeah I’m curious if there are settings on the iPhone that I can disable 2 of the 3 cameras. Seriously considering busting out one of older model iPhones with only one camera just for hunting purposes.

Magview does have an app that supposedly disables lenses so the phone isn’t battling itself. I have an old iPhone 8, and the magview app didn’t fully support my phone. I was able to snap photos with the app, but not shoot videos.

I have the Ollin and love it. Here’s a pic I took Saturday of it setup. No apps!

What cell phone are you running? Reason I ask is because with the new iPhone they have three cameras so I’m curious if the Olin system works with the three cameras
It’s setup to be centered around the main camera. So no app needed.

I use an iPhone. only sissy la la’s use other phones.

One last update from me…I have now tested three different products starting with the Phoneskope, then using one called Hookupz by Carson, and then finally Magview. @joestrow was kind enough to let me borrow his Magview and it did not disappoint. It is by far the spendiest of the three but it worked great. The app is simple as well, all it does is disable two of three cameras. I thought it would be annoying to use an app but it’s just like opening your camera, one click and you’re shooting photo/video in no time. Not to mention the adapter remains in your scope all the time and you can use your spotter without your camera and it doesn’t interfere.

The other two products fell way flat. Phoneskope would probably be second best but I can’t say for sure because I got the wrong case. The only thing that would have improved is the fit though, because the camera still lined up perfectly with the hole. I just don’t like the attachment to the scope itself and the app was terrible and confusing. The Hookupz isn’t worth a review, just garbage.

That’s a great write up and review that is greatly appreciated. I recently had to upgrade my IPhone to a 13 Pro Max due to lack of support on my old IPhone and was curious how the three cameras were going to respond.
