Just curious if anyone is planning on hunting near Mt. Pleasant for the late season archery Elk ? We just bought some property up Cedar Creek (East of Mt. Pleasant)and I am curious what to expect down there. Is this hunt worth the time or is it a bust?

Any info. would be great. Thanks

LAST EDITED ON Nov-01-04 AT 08:10AM (MST)[p]It sucks! You would be better off to sell to property.

Why is it so bad down there? I have been looking at all of the extended archery areas for someting to do with my tag setting in my drawer.

That area is hard to find a piece of land you can hunt the landowners own the majority of that extended unit and they have teamed up with outfitters to sell permits to out of towners that don't know any better for a large amount of $$$$.

But if you have the $$$ you can hop on their sleighs they pull around in their fields when they are feeding the elk and shoot a nice bull with ease!

I scouted this area last year for several days and I found elk but they were on private property, we didn't see any on public ground I am sure their are a few their but the majority winter on the landowners fields where they get fed every year!

Imagine that landowners moan and groan about elk on their land but yet now they feed them so they will keep coming on their land so that they can make some $$$.

If I was one of thousands that put in for that unit for the rifle hunt I would be a little upset, they shot some nice bulls off that extended unit last year!!!

I am pretty sure that those landowners were cut out of the boundaries for next years hunt. I knowe it was discussed in pretty good detail at the RAC meetings. The DWR is not very happy about them feeding those elk and pulling them off of everyone elses property. Hopefully the property you bought will produce some opportunity for you. If you need a buddy to help you shoot some of those baby bulls let me know!
