same shed area each year?

I went out this weekend and found the right side to a set I found 300 yards away 2 years ago.

Will a buck from 5, 10, 25 miles away return to the same ridge each winter or is it a local deer?

Thoughts.........

by the way, the deer is a 4x5, not including eye guards, and this year's set if the left matches the right would go about 165-170. I'm guessing it to be a five year old buck.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-13-11 AT 05:26PM (MST)[p]Yep, we've found the sheds from the same deer three years in a row. They were unique so it was easy to tell. They sheds were all in very close proximity to each other. There may be some local deer, but I think deer not only spend their summer months in exactly the same area, they move down the same routes and winter in the same areas.

Dont know about the same ridge but the same area. I have killed two bucks in the same canyon I also found there sheds in. Dont know if they were resident deer or just spent the early spring and late fall in the same area. Both deer were killed less then 300 yards from where the sheds were picked up.

Yup, seems like every year I find an antler or two that is a match to the year before. Here are pics of antlers I found last year.

Matching inlines. Found 100 yards apart.

This one has identical bases and very distinct dropping mainbeams but went from an inline to a kicker. Found 300 yards apart.

That's just last year, I've found a bunch over the years. Only have pictures of last year's though.

yep i have found multiple years off of many deer found two sets off of the same buck in the same day once about 200 yards apart.

What years where those and what part of the state hornkiller?

Incredible finds for sure!!!

Cheers,
Pete

Here is eight years of the same buck a couple of the years just one side found. They were all found in the same area, probably within a half of a mile. He was found dead after he shed about two years ago, he would have been about eleven or twelve. As far as I know no one ever seen him on a hunt, at least I never did.
