Don't mean to turn this into a pizzen post, but if more people were packing concealed, this guy could have at least been slowed down a little. It would have been a bad place to even attempt to fight back, but it would have been better than just letting this guy target practice.

Pieces of crap like this guy know their victims are most likely unarmed so they won't get shot themselves. They would think twice before doing something like this if they thought there might be a chance that everyone in the theater might open up on them. My prayers go out to all the victims and their families.

A guy attempted to mug me at that theatre a few years ago, they always have several cops working there on weekends as there there is always some kind of problem going on, but never anything like this. I can't believe this happened at a theatre we go to on a regular basis.
I often carry myself when going out even to the movies but I highly doubt I could of done much in a packed almost sold out dark theatre. The gunmen was heavily armored (bullet proof vest, aromored gear, helmet, gas mask....ect),he used tear gas and was in full riot gear, he had a shotgun, a semi auto rifle and a high cap hand gun, he also had an explosive device identified by the police as a bomb which did not explode.
Imagine yourself heavily into a movie in a dark theatre full of people at 12:30 am in the morning and tear gas going off, under heavy gunfire and complete total panic surrounding you. Could you really have stopped the gunman who was heavily armed and armored?
I doubt I could of responded accurately under these conditions but,I would of died trying to stop this piece of crap of a person.
12 dead and over 50 injured, counting the bullets that went through the walls and into the adjoing theatres hitting people.
I wish I could have made a difference, but selfishly I am glad I did not go last night. I pray that the people I know will be ok.
Such a senseless act of violence, my thoughts and prayers with the families of the victims.

Absolutely horrible news. My prayers to the family's of those affected by these tragic events.
The fuggin loose-screw cowards that do this crap.
I don't usually go to the movies except to take the kids to some disney show, and when I do, I don't carry. Unfortunately that's going to change. There just isn't anywhere that these cowards wont go. Sad.

Horrible and evil. I know Denver doesn't honor carry permits what about Aurora. As stated tough place to put down a crazy criminal.

Denver does offer and honor concealed carry permits in fact every county in the state offers a CC permit through their sheriffs dept.
Colorado is also a OPEN carry state of course this is restricted by private businesses and in some areas by ordinance. DENVER does reconize CONCEALED CARRY PERMITS for the state and certain other states too. I have a permit form the city and county of Denver to carry a concealed weapon.

Greatwhitehunter thanks for correcting me. The site on Concealed Carry is confusing on whether they honor out of state permits I was looking to see if they honor my concealed carry from Nebraska, didn't find it do you know the answer to that? Thanks

I can't believe that nobody tried to take this guy down. Some said they were 3 feet from the guy as he was reloading. Especially with all the gear he had on and limited vision and mobility.
I also have a hard time with all these movie theaters having NO GUN policies for law abiding CCW holders. If they are not going to let you protect yourself then they should have armed guards stationed in the theaters. I am a CCW holder and I'll tell you that I will be thinking long and hard about giving any of my money to any business that has this no CCW policy from now on.
I guess you had to be there to say for sure but I have been shot at before and turning and running was the last thing on my mind. All I was thinking about was disarming the shooter and beating the crap out of him. As it turned out he ended up running away after emptying his pistol so I didn't get my chance.
I'm not saying that I think that I'm some badass or anything, but if you're trying to take the life of myself or my family, I'm doing whatever I can to stop you and take you out.

I talked to a friend who is an Aurora Police Officer and he has been working the scene for 36 hours now. Please pray for the families of the victims and the officers & responders who have had to endure this gruesome scene. May the Lord keep us all strong as we try to cope with this senseless tragedy.

I heard on the news he entered through the emergency exit. How did the guy enter through the emergency exit? Aren't they locked from the outside?

Complete, I read somewhere that he paid his way in and then walked out the emergency exit leaving it ajar and went to his car for his guns and returned to the theatre through the exit.

Life in prison just isn't the horrible thing it once was and the death penalty in some states (especially Kali) is a joke with about a twenty year window from the time of sentencing to the time of death.
The system is a money pit. Bring back public hanging and design a housing unit with 100 beds, with bed number 100 being the one you enter at conviction and bed number one the last one you sleep in before they hang and then incinerate your sorry azz. You have as much time as it takes to move though those beds to appeal your case. No more, no less.

Really tough to come up with answers on how to stop this senseless violence. All we can agree on at this site is that gun control isn't the answer. I thought the young lady journalist hopeful who survived the Toronto mall shooting but was killed in Aurora brother was eloquent. He said I don't want to think about the shooter, only my sister and we will take her body home and celebrate her life.
