I know where to find a couple really great tortoises on the Henry Mountains Unit. It takes 5 points to draw, as you know. Since you have 10 points and I have 0 points, if you will let me piggy back with you we can both draw this year.

I've been scouting out there since January and I got a couple located. I'll even let you have first shot at the bigger one.

It's not like you're going to draw a premium tag on your own and kill a decent tortoise any way, so you might want to accept my generous offer. Think about it, 'ol Buddy!

Roy, I'll take your lack of response as a "no". That's fine. I was doing it mostly for TripleK anyway. She hates to see you hunt alone. She said, as a kid you used to get lost going out to the mail box, so I can understand her concern.

Well, don't take my silence as a "NO" answer - not just yet anyway. I have been down in Old Mexico scouting for my upcoming Tortuga Gigantesca hunt in Oaxaca in May. So far, the only real giant ones have turned up as mere glimpses on the trail cams. That and there has been some crazy stories about some drug runners for the Zeta cartel disappearing on that trail. All good signs but nothing tangible yet.

As far as the Henry's are concerned, I am a little disallusioned with that unit. Sure, there is a chance at taking a giant but at the same time the numbers are down and it has been sorely mismangaged. You have just as good a chance at getting a good turtle on a management hunt there as you are on a straight draw. I am contemplating just holding on to my points and only applying for a bonus point this year, wait a couple of years and let the herd recover and then go after a truly once-in-a-lifetime bull turtle. But, I haven't decided yet. I will have to see how this hunt down in Oaxaca goes first, then I will make a decision.

So, if you don't want to wait for me, go in with TripleK. The rear window in her Tahoe is broken though, so it might get a little chilly. She says it was hit by a foul ball at softball, but there is a very conspicuous mark on K1's head that matches the place where the window was smashed. But hey, that is really none of my business. But yeah, go on, go ahead and hunt with TripleK. I am sure she won't try to bash your head through the back window of a Tahoe, er, um ah, let her Tahoe get hit by another foul ball.

Okay, I thought about it. Given her history of violence and short fuse, I pass. Tortoises are dangerous enough without having to worry about an irrational explosive attack from my hunting partner. And I like the rear window of my truck canopy.

Roy Lies!

Don't let Roy get you all scared, Eel. You'd have a helluva lot better time hunting with me than you ever would him. I'm not all that scary. It really was a foul ball that busted out my back side window (expensive SOB, too, btw).

I've only ever put one person's head through a window and that dude totally deserved it. He pants'd me in front of a bunch of guys. And he didn't just pull my shorts down...he pulled underwear too so I had to bend over to pull them up and...well...you know what happens when women bend over naked. Yup...total peep show. Looked like one of Bess's porns (you know...the ones he gets from D13er that infect their computers with STDs all the time?). Anyway- that guy totally deserved to have his head shoved through a plate glass window. I don't think ol' Bob will ever forget that day in Jr High...LOL

So...as long as you behave, we'll have a great time. Sleep with one eye open, but relax and let's get some turtles! Roy sucks and we can totally put his hunting skills to shame. Who do you think he learned to hunt turtles from. I'm the real expert here. Roy who????

That means that when he was 11 playing Little League, I was 18 with a new drivers license. It was my "job" to take him to practices and games. It was the last game of the season and they were playing for the division championship. Not only did they lose, one of the players on the winning team hit a foul ball that broke the windshield of Dad's car.

You have no idea how scared two boys driving home after that game can feel. To make a long story short, it is a low point in our family history.

So, back to our turtle hunt. Exactly what do you mean by "as long as I behave"? It seems the Devil may be in the details. What happens, for example, if I get up and make coffee in the morning and you think it's too strong or not strong enough? What if it's not hot enough? Or any stuff like that. We just need to clear the air before I commit my rear canopy window. Thanks!
