Another member of Easy Company is gone, men like this are hard to come by today, he truly was a part of "the greatest generation"

LAST EDITED ON Mar-10-14 AT 10:55AM (MST)[p]Sad to see them go, especially Bill Guarnere. I'm a WW II history buff and read all the books that came out of Easy Company besides Ambroses's book Band Of Brothers. The best IMHO was "Beyond Band of Brothers" by Richard Winters. Winters said he only wrote it to set the record straight since some of the other versions came out a little different than he remembered. Next in my ranking system would be "Easy Company Soldier", by Don Malarkey, "Parachute Infantry" by David Kenyon Webster, who wrote his book long before Stephen Ambrose wrote "Band of Brothers". "Call of Duty" by Buck Compton and Guanere/Heffron's book would be a toss up with "Shifty's War" ghost written in the first person hired by Shifty Powers Family being last.

It's amazing how different the recollections of the same fights were from different people who were there.

Yes it is! I guess it is all about perspective and what we choose to remember. I have read a bunch of different accounts too and each man has a different take on the situation. It is interesting to see how it affected each one of them differently.
