Region J- Public Land

I know that I may not get any answers to this but it's worth a shot- where is there some producing public land in Region J? When we don't get drawn for "D" we pick up left over tags in J. We have hunted the Grazing Associations land and there were no animals on it! We were able to hunt on a ladies ranch and there were very little deer on it. Is ther any producing public land in J? If so, let me know where the big ones are!! Just kidding. Any info would be great.

I live right in J and have been here for a long time. There's no good public ground in J. I don't hunt it - I head elsewhere. There are some real solid bucks taken on the private lands in J, but the public ground gets absolutely hammered. You'd be lucky to find a couple of 2 year old 3 point bucks.

Sorry to be negative, but that's the deal.

If you want to see some of the big bucks coming off private land in J, go to our website at www.triplecreekhunts.com. It's too bad that the Wyoming Game and Fish does not do more to manage for quailty. We could grow some really good bucks, but there are just way too many people hunting to let any of the bucks grow up. Same holds true for those great areas like G and H in western Wyoming. They could produce a LOT more big-time bucks with just a little management.

ICMDEER- We were in J...just east of Glenrock about 5 years ago and went up to Box Elder and saw absolutely nothing! It was very depressing to say the least. I will go to the website and check out the pics. Thanks for the info!

That looks like a great place for elk on a private land guided hunt. I am saving my NR preference points so maybe I will be able to draw unit 7 in two or three more years. So I may give you a call in a couple of years.

I don't think anyone knows how many points a unit like this will take after the point system levels off but with max points I should be in the running at some point.
