Region J Help

My Dad and I put in for Region D every year and sometimes we get drawn and sometimes not. Our second option has always been Reg. J. The ranch we normally hunt on there may not be allowing any deer hunters this year. Does anyone have any info. for me on property owners that may allow a couple of trespass hunters on their property? Or...is there any decent public land in the region that I may research that is worth researching? Please pm me if you'd like to keep it on the down-low. I appreciate any and all help.

I've posted an answer to this question before, but I would not recommend hunting in J unless you have a private ranch to hunt. The public land gets hammered and it is mostly small pockets of forest or BLM lands. There are a few walk-in areas and they get pounded as well. Most of the ranches I'm aware of that allow trespass hunting take an unlimited unmber of hunters - who ever will pay the fee. As a result, there's no quality there.

In all honesty, you'd be better served to try another area.

There are some studs taken every year in J, but they are almost entirely on well-managed private ranches. I do not know of place that is good and allows trespass fee hunting. I live here and hunt elsewhere.

Sorry, but better to know in advance than to show up and have a poor quality hunt.

ICMDEER- Thanks for the info. The ranch we hunt on in J has very few bucks and the quality is very poor. However, it is a place to get out, enjoy the scenary and spend some good time with my Dad. I understand what you are saying....you live there and hunt elsewhere. Need you say more? I think not! Thanks again!
