Region H Mule Deer and Unit 90 Pronghorn...

I'm a new member to this site and had a couple questions for the professionals. My brother and I have max points for mule deer and antelope and were looking at Unit 90 and Region H in southwest wyoming. It looks like this is an area with a large amount of public land and we'll be doing a DIY hunt. Has anyone hunted these areas? We like the fact we'd be able to hunt both species in the same area, but I'm not sure of the quality we'd find. The area we were looking at is northeast of Fontenelle. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know that I'd waste/burn MAX points on Region H. Region G is North West/ West of Fontenelle and a better bet IMO. Plenty Public here too and. You could draw it with 2 or more pnts.

Is Region G the best bang for your buck when it comes to preference points? I've got max points and have been trying to figure out where I'm going to put in. I know antelope are common across the state for the most part. I was mainly looking for an area where I could hunt both and have a good chance of being successful. From posts I have read on multiple sites, it sounds like Region G get a ton of hunters and the success rate in the area is not great (as it was in the past). I'm at a disadvantage because I'm from out of state and will only be able to scout a couple of days before the opener. I'm not looking for trophies, but would like a decent chance at decent animals.

Like you ,I want to hunt deer and antelope at the same time .I found I can do that in region B.Tresspass fees are also resonable there.Public land is spoty.

Keep in mind that as a non-resident you won't be able to hunt wilderness areas without a guide. Region H has a lot of wilderness, G doesn't have any. Good luck whatever you choose.

We hunted Antelope unit 67 last year which is part of Deer unit 90. We had a good goat hunt taking bucks in the high 70's. We saw a few deer but not many. The biggest was maybe 150 inches. That said, the weather was terrible and we didn't get back into the more broken country on the south side of the unit which I think holds more deer. Mostly public land and low tag numbers should make for a decent hunt. Check the archives here. There are some past threads talking about unit 90 deer. GOOD LUCK

Sorry, I misread your post. I was thinking unit 90 deer. Must be the stress of the holidays - or something like that. Chip

Thanks for all the advice/help. I know it's always a sticky question when you ask other hunters where the good places to hunt are... as I wouldn't want to give my local sweet spots. I appreciate all the advice and wish you all a Merry Christmas. Hopefully I'll have some pics for the forum after our hunt. Thanks again.

You don't want to hunt deer in antelope area 90. There are very, very few that reside there.
