region D mule deer

I'll be bowhunting elk in this mule deer unit, and am considering drawing a tag for them also.How is the mule deer hunting in the region.Do these tags make the 2nd round so I can build points?I know its not a trophy area, but want to know if theres a decent population worth drawing a tag for.I'd be hunting on public ground.

Region D tags can be bought as leftovers for the last couple of years anyway.I bought one two years ago and went to the west of Shirley Mountains and was not impressed.Saw about 20 deer durring a weeks hunt and only two were bucks and they were real small.I came home empty.
