Range-Finder...

I have been looking at a few different rangefinders. I am just looking for a basic one that will work for archery hunting. Something small an compact. If its accurate up to 100 yards i'll be happy. The 2 that I have been looking at:

- Leupold RX-600
and
- Nikon Prostaff-550

If anyone has any other opinions, or experience with a good little range-finder, I would appreciate the help because i have VERY little experience with them.

IMO, the best one out right now for archers like you and I is the Archer's choice Max from Nikon. The riflehunter 600 would also be great, but I haven't seen one yet. Here's what makes it better, IMO.
Waterproof. Leopolds are not. The Nikons are.
It will range out to 200 yards.
The reticle will change color based on the color of the background.
The Leicas won't do angle compensation.

I had the Max and lost it after about a month. It fell out of my dang pocket! I wasn't using the supplied tether. It was a good unit, and I'll probably get another one.

have used the rx-1000 for two years now.

I really like the LED display, and you can set the brightness!!

ended up with the 1000 over the 600 because of the reflective object readability! Very Important!

Nikon was my second choice-
hope this helps.

REDFIEILD HAS A BASIC RANGEFINDER. I HAVEN'T BOUGHT ONE YET, BUT THE REVIEWS ON IT ARE GREAT. I AM GOING TO GET ONE AS SOON
AS I CAN GET SOME EXTRA MONEY.
