Raise your credit score for free (not a scam)

This is not hunting related but I think it's a good thing to post anyway. I do it for all my clients and thought I would pass it on to all of you as well. It's not a secret and some on here may have already done it. You can raise your credit score by doing what's called "opting-out". When you "opt-out" you are telling the credit card companies that you no longer want to receive "you are pre-approved" credit card mailers from them.

When you (opt-out) the credit bureaus consider you less of a credit risk and they raise your credit score because of it. It may just go up a couple points or possibly a bunch of points. I have seen a clients credit score go up 40 points in 30 days by just doing this and nothing else. Keep in mind this is not the norm but every little bit helps IMO. If anything, you will stop receiving junk mail from credit car companies. That's why I did it. This is very similar to the "do not call list" but for credit companies.

How to do it?

They are several ways to ?Opt-Out?. You can do it online at https://www.optoutprescreen.com or you can do it over the phone by calling 1-888-567-8688. They do need to have your personal information to do it so they can submit it to the credit bureaus. Some people like to call others like to do it online. It is very easy to do and it only takes a couple minutes.

If you have any questions, let me know......

Thanks MM!
I opted-out, mainly because & hate receiving all the offers & then having to shred them (security purposes).

Thanks MMan,

I was wondering how to do that. Those rotton junk mailing bastages!

Thanks....Only took about a minute. And well worth it, somedays all I get is junk mail.

If huntin is a sport.....Well your lookin at an athlete!

Good info,.... when unsolicide offers include a postage paid envelope I send it back to them, also I add lots of additional waste paper. They have to pay on the other end. Might not do much good but makes you feel better. At this point I don't know nor care what my credit rating is. I pay cash. I have no debts, oh except for a $1000 taxiderm balance...LOL.

I don't know about where they bought their domain or the servers that they use. But they are recommended by the 3 major credit bureaus right on their own websites. Look for yourself.

Mortgageman,

Good Post! One other important thing to do is really analyze your credit needs and creditors. For instance, many retail stores will raise your credit limits over time even though your needs remain the same. For example, if you have a Sears card and only charge $200.00 a year on the average, but your limit is $5000.00, you should have them reduce your limit to $300.00 and advise Sears they are not allowed to raise your limit without your permission.

As well, many retail creditors fail to close your account even though you have requested it. Regardless of the Zero balance, the bank will only look at the credit limit. So any accounts that are still open that should be closed only take away from your total available unsecured credit.

Many people fail to realize that if they have a zero balance on 5 cards, and each card carries a $2000.00 limit. The bank will show that you have $10,000.00 out on unsecured credit. The fact that the balance is zero means absolutely nothing!!!

Thanks Guys!!

Credit is something that never gets it explained to people in a way that is understandable. It can cost or save you thousands in interest on cars, houses, etc. Just an example: The credit bureaus like to see your balance at 40% of the available credit line (obviously not on ten different accounts). If you pay everything off it shows that you have available credit that you do not use. Now the credit bureaus cannot evaluate your credit, because you aren't using it. Your score will be lower than it should be because of this.

I have always said that instead on Home Ec in high school they should have some sort of credit class. That would show you how credit works and how important it really is. This is not a add for me but we have a program that does it all for our clients. It explains everything in depth right from their own credit report. It comes directly from the credit bureaus so you can take it to the bank. It will tell you what you need to do to raise your score and how to maximize your score with the tradelines that you have and which ones to close if need be. These are some of the resources out there for people. My advice is take advantage of them because it can really save you in the long run.

credit is not hard to understand...pay ALL your bills on time and your credit will be good. Very simple really.
