I will be moving to Washington this spring and was checking out the wildlife regualtions. I read that by definiiton for fishing someone only has to live in the state for 90 days to qualify as a resident. Is the time period the same to hunt big game as a resident in Washington state? Also, are both elk and deer over the counter tags? THANKS.

Hi Hoops. What part of WA are you planning on moving to?

You are reading the regulations correctly. You to establish residency you have to live here for 90 days for fishing and hunting. Elk and deer are over the counter tags with special permits available by draw.

Thanks. That is awesome news.
I'll be moving to Clearview in April. Some friends just bought about ten acres there. My understanding is that it is about 20 minutes north of Seattle?

welcome, you will have some awesome fishing over there. dont forget your new friends on MM. :)

Welcome to Western WA. There is an abundance of great fishing and hunting opportunities in this state. Just make sure to carefully read the regs.
