PSE Mach X

I've owned two bows since I started archery hunting when I was thirteen, both of which have been PSE's. I'm planning on buying a new bow soon, and wondered if anyone has any experience with the new Mach X. I've read a lot of reviews, most of which are great. With all the hype (for good reasons) about Matthews, it seems like people think that companies like PSE can't compete. I'm also considering AR Archery Research) made by PSE. My good buddy shoots an AR, and after shooting it this past August was overly surprised at how quick and quiet it was. Any thoughts?

Thanks

BowHuntr,

I was in the market for a new bow recently, and after all of the bows I shot I ended up buying the Bowtech Allegiance. I did shoot the Mach X and thought it was a great bow as well. I had a PSE before this bow and it was a great bow. There are so many good bows out there now I think its hard to choose. Just go shoot a buch of bows with an open mind and pick the one you like best. I was also really impressed with the ROSS bow, it seemed to shoot like the Switchback but at 150 bucks less.

I bought a lower end PSE in 2001 and was happy with what I got. I don't like the axle to axle length on the Mach X but if that is what you want then I would not hesitate to get it. I have heard a lot of good things about that bow. PSE had seemed to drop out of the picture for awhile but were still having success with the AR line, which are nice bows, but I think PSE is starting to put out some nice bows here recently. I am currently shooting the bowtech tribute because I wanted the shorter ATA bow.

I have owned three PSE started with an old one then I got the the firestorm and my last bow is a AR 34 the AR is a great shooting bow, this thing is fast and quiet I think I will always stick with PSE. just my 2 cents.

My dad is a PSE shooter too. He started with the old G force, than the baby G and now he shoots the Firestorm Lite. Its a great little bow , is extremely smooth an he loves it.He said if he get another bow this year it will be the Mach X. This little bow looks great , a different riser than traditional bows but PSE is still a great bow company.my nieghbor shoots the new diablo, WAY COOL bow too.

Thanks for the input fellas. I think I'm going to go shoot a few different ones and see what I think. Can't wait for August!

I havent shot one but I have seen them, long riser and short limbs make for a very forgiving bow. I shoot a Mathews Switchback LD which has a longer brace height and is very forgiving, funny how many people want faster and faster bows when deer have been killed for centuries by bows that I could outrun.

grizzlyplumber ,I couldn't agree with you more. Whats more is people don't realize they very rarely get the speed advertised by companies. I heard that most of those listed speeds are set at max or near max poundage, I've also heard they are speeds from 70lbs. shooting 5 grains per pound which will come in way too light for hunting most big game.

For what you'll spend on a Mach X, you can afford just about anyone's bow. In that price range, I think you'd be nuts not to at least try out the Bowtech Allegiance (what I have now), the tribute, or the new guardian (what I have on order. Don't overlook the Diamond line of single cam bows (formerly the Bowtech line). The Liberty, Victory and Black Ice are all top drawer and will save you some $. Shoot some of these new bows--You will be amazed at how far technology has come.

The X rocks!! . Trust me ! People saying shoot what I shoot gets so old. The guy asked about the Mach X . I have shot it and want one . Maybe next year. I went with the AR 35 the other day.

Elk...Bowtech and Diamond are the same company without one replacing the other. Just like PSE and AR. Shoot them all and find the one you like, but stick with their upper end bows.

People were killing elk, deer, bears and antelope with bows that had cast risers and steel cables 15 years ago. You don't need to spend $800 on a bow to be able to kill. It's all hype designed to take money from your pocket and put it into theirs.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-26-07 AT 07:49AM (MST)[p]To some extent moneyman you have a valid point. But I can tell you there is a difference in the componets that make up the better bows in the manufacturers lineup and the technology that usually winds up in the new bows. If you stay away from their bottom end you will get a pretty decent bow that has some fairly new technology in it. This technology improves accuracy and makes the bow much quieter, is easier to shoot and causes less wear and tear on your shoulders and extends the life of the bow. So there are reasons to spend more for a bow in todays market. If you shoot a lot or compete spend a little more on your bow and you'll reap the benefits in the long run.

Now is a great time to buy a last years model and save a few bucks and perhaps get a better bow in the process. One things for certain there's a lot of great stuff out there by many manufacturers and you don't have to buy a top of the line model to get a great shooting bow. The PSE Mach X is a well built bow that should give you years of good service if you decide to go that direction.
