Pronghorn Down

Anyone who hasn't hunted antelope with a bow is really missing a great time!!

After years of applying i was finally able to draw a tag for an area that my family has hunted several times in the past. I love the beauty and desolation of the desert and have been extremely excited for this hunt. Most importantly i was able to spend some quality time with my dad and brother. My dad has been having some health problems lately and it meant a lot to me that he was able to come.

They say that a picture is worth a thousand words so i'll let some photos do most of the talking.

Opening morning started out fast with many bucks coming in right at first light.

This battle was pretty intense. It happened right in front of us and we were able to catch the whole thing on vidoe.

The buck in the next three pictures has some pretty good mass and prongs. Too bad he doesn't have much above the prong

This buck has some great height, just no mass or prong to go with it.

And this is the buck i ended up taking. I passed him three times but not the fourth. I really like how unique he is. His horns lay out and sweep forward.

This is the first time he came in.

Congratulations to the entire family. These are some of the best photos I have ever seen. Thanks for sharing.

I usually save my posts for making smart ass remarks, but those are some very nice pictures. Congrats on the cool goat.

Sweet photo sequence......never seen a coyote so red......hope you stuck it and the badger, too

Nice 'lope.....

Ryan,

Your pic's are amazing as usual!! I am so glad your Dad got to go out there with ya! You shot the buck I liked the best. Congrats on a heck of a trophy! Hope your Dad does as well in AZ!!! Congratulations.

I really need to get a nice camera like yours!!!

Have a great night!

Chad

Thanks for the comments guys

This is a utah goat

Jim- the video camera was rolling for the whole thing. Ended up with tons of footage of the shot, the buck fight and most of the bucks that came in.

Sweet pics man..... Congrats on a nice goat. I felt like I was right there with ya, according to your awesome pics and all!!!! Thanks for sharing your hunt with us.

Congradulations! Thanks for sharing all of those quality pictures, enjoyed reading about your hunt.

Ya he is a great and unique buck. I got video of him last year in almost the same area where you killed him. I drew a deer tag for that area last year and ended up taking a decent sized buck.

Congrats man...like the pics also...you're right that other buck does have a really nice cape.

"Now we come to the most important pre-season question. Do you just want to go elk hunting, or do you want to bring one back? If you desire the latter, there is no substitute for hard work. The bigger your goal, the harder the work required to get there. Good luck!" - Cameron R. Hanes

Congrats Ryan! Boy looks like you had an awesome trip. I'ts great to see your Dad was good enough to go with you. Also happy your brother tagged along too!

Your photos are just incredible! I loved all of them, but photo of the bucks fighting where the one has his horns hooked on the other's neck is just outstanding. Your coyote photos are awesome too.

I love bowhunting and photographing antelope and being able to veiw others who have. Thanks for sharing and lets get together after the bowhunts are over and shoot some photos.

Take care and have a good one. BB

NeverStop... that is just outstanding. Excellent photos and you have some great memories to re-live with your family.

HornHogII, son-in-law and me chased one of those Flat Heads around last year. You just can't resist the unique character of those goats.

That is a very unique goat you got. Loved the pictures.

My hunting spot is so secret, not even the elk have found it yet.

Ryan, congrats on an awesome buck. Also glad to hear that your family was able to go along and help out. Now good luck on getting that huge muley.

Ryan,
Congrats on a great and unique buck, but even more impressive is your ability to capture the hunt in your pictures. Those are some of, if not, the best pictures I have ever seen from a hunt.

Great job and good luck to your Dad on his hunt and his health!! Hopefully you take just as many good photos from his hunt to share with us all again.

Cory

Very nice pics you captured on your hunt. Congrats on taking your pronghorn.

Great photos, awesome buck, but how did that black backed jackal get all the way over here from Africa?

Yay! You shot the flathead, I am so proud of you!!

I would love to see the video as well, I have never had the luck to see bucks sparring, what awesome pics, awesome story and a great animal too boot.

Thanks for sharing it with us.

I'm glad everyone liked the pictures. It was sure a great time seeing all those animals. If only it didn't take so long to draw another tag.

I'm not very video savvy and i don't know how to get the video from my camera to the computer. Any tips?

Alright thanks, i'll give ya a call when we get back for the strip next week. Hopefully by then i'll have some footage of a 200+ muley!

That was some outstanding work. We just got back from trying to spot and stalk in Wyo. We'll try it again in a couple of weeks.
Thanks man.

Hands down this is the best post of the year. Great pictures and nice buck. Congrats to the hunter.

Hey bud,....I just got your email about your 'lope.....I just missed this when you first posted it I guess. I haven't been on here as much as usual, very cool goat Ryan,......he is unique and I would have shot him too. Thanks for going to the trouble to post all these pics, it's enjoyable to look at them and I can't wait to see the video. Congrats my friend and good luck on the Strip.

Those are some of the best pictures I have seen in quite a while. A great goat and obviously a terrific hunt spent with family. Well done. What state and what unit did you hunt?

Outstanding goat and pictures. Glad you and your family had a great time! Hard to beat a hunt with family. Again congrats on a nice antelope and he will look sweet hanging on the wall!
