Cancer doesn't discriminate...don't take your good health for granted because it can be gone in a heartbeat. Please go back and read the last line. This time really understand what it says.

I have stage 4 liver cirrhosis. Not from alcohol. Very sick and came on very fast. I was shocked but they have a new drug out that might help. Thanks a few prayers don't hurt. I have seen them work in my life.

I'm really sorry to hear that...my wife had breast cancer not too long ago and we felt it was important to do as much research on it as possible and pass her/our experience with it onto others so that they can prevent/catch it early and know what to do about it and things that can help if they do contract it.
Any info you can offer others to help us/them prevent this would be helpful and appreciated. Symptoms? At what age should one be checked for this affliction? If you don't feel up to answering, that is fine. I understand. I wish you the best, deermadness.

Elkassassin; Thank You for expressing this. It shows your true friendship and your Large Heart. Wisard; I caught your hint.

Dear DeerMadness, I'm a new guy on this forum so I hope you will accept my Prayer. It has taken me more than an hour to come back to the computer and decide to post. Let me just say Jesus has had my 6 for a long time. He has heard my feelings for the last hour, I'm sure of this.

I listed some links that may help all of us help you and each other. No matter what is shown on Internet sites, we are all students and learning is good. I was in the Hospital ICU Isolation with Double Pneumonia for two weeks. I went septic which means, all of my Internal Organs were shutting down. On Ash Wednesday 2014 a catholic Priest rubbed ash on my forehead and gave me my Last Rights. The Hospital had assembled all of my family in a conference room explaining to them there was no chance I would recover. 3+ Doctors were present as well as other specialists. My family was told, even if by a Miracle I was to not pass away, I would be in a Nursing Home, unable to do anything for myself, until I passed. Papers were signed to "Not" provide Life Support.

Six Months later, I Killed a Buck. Off-Hand, 130 yard Dead center Neck Shot (Sage can attest to him and I and a BET I made back in the 1970's about a Long Range Neck Shot).

Dear; DeerMadness.... You have the highest quality friends possible right here. No one except Sage knows me but anything you need, just say so and if I can help you, I shall. Listen to all Doctors and retain copies of all tests so the family may retain historical (Family) medical records which may become useful to others later. I'm supposed to go get Blood-work but....procrastinate. I may be sick and don't know it yet. At least this post kinda kicks some of us to go be checked and to also support YOU. This forum is a unique family of Hunters who Love other men afield. We could all camp together and hardly a shotgun shell past 10 cases would be fired amongst the arguers. The Whisky or soda drinkers wouldn't budge as shots were fired accost the campfire; "My Humor thought"...

The below is a start. Its the only thing I could think of listing. I AM thinking a lot about you. Its not important that I know you, just that I Pray. I think just over the next small hill, you'll find good news. Jagerdad.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-04-16 AT 08:07PM (MST)[p]Thanks so much for sharing that. Next week they will do Endoscopy and CT scans for cancer. I hope that isn't happening. I will start Harvoni (new treatment) as soon as I get it authorized.
It's hard to go to work and have energy as I'm always feeling crappy.
I am being happy though, and living to enjoy all the people in my life.
I guess I over reacted a little but it is still very serious.
I can do this . I just want more years to hunt, fish and backpack.
I was just looking the other day at all my backpack gear which is super ultralight and dreaming of more trips I could go do.
One thing we all have in common on MM is the love of our outdoors.
Thanks to all you guys for the encouragement. Hopefully I can get going soon on my treatment.

Prayers sent DM I wish you the best!

DeerMadness, I admire your determination to conquer your illness. I believe in prayer, truly I do. I believe there is ample evidence and countless examples of the power of pray and especially the power of "lots" of pray, by lots of family and friends.

Having said that, I believe equally strong in the concept that God helps those that help themselves and those that harness their personal strength as well as the strength of other hard working people, like those in the best medical facilities.

I remember the comments of an elderly gentleman made, from up the road.

He had a beautiful and highly productive orchard, that he'd labored tirelessly, in order to keep beautiful and productive. One day a kind lady encountered him at the post office, she said, "Mr. Bosconovitch, the Lord has blessed you with a marvelous orchard." Mr. B replyed, "will thank you so very much Mrs. Jensen, but you should have seen it when the Lord had it by Himself." (Or something like that. )

The point being, the prays and the Lord's blessing are critical, no doubt in my mind, but "you and your medical team are the ones that will ultimately be the ones to shovel the dirt, to move the mountain", and you are demonstrating your determination to do that. Those that do, often survive seemingly hopeless medical problems. I'm betting you're one of those kinds of people.

My the Lord bless you DeerMadness, I pray there's a couple dozen pairs of boots, with your name on them, that you have got to wear out before you get out of here.

Wiz,
Sorry about not posting this for you sooner. Most people never have to worry about this. I have Hep C and have had it for 25 years.
I guess it must have been in a Dentist or Dr's Office something wasn't sterilized.
Anyway I have never had scarring of my liver every check up until this one. 2 years ago they said I was perfectly fine.
I started getting sick quickly right after the deer hunt.
I don't know if you read my post about not wanting to hike way up to shoot an elk in November but it was more due to fatigue than it was to my foot having Plantar Fasciitis.
Ive had terrible stomach bloating, gas and itching alot. I'm not jaundiced and that is good at least.
So most of you don't have to get checked unless you have symptoms or are diagnosed with Hep C.

DeerMadness we are rooting for your recovery and you have our prayers. Hoping you will be on the mountain next hunting season.

Thanks again everyone. I had a CT scan today so will be interesting to see how that goes.
I sure do hope I feel good again as my points in Utah keep building and I want to hunt something fun in a good unit. I like Utah and Idaho.

Thanks-not feeling too great today. It's going to be tough waiting for the treatment meds to get approved. I hear the average is a 2 1/2 month wait. Then I have 2 to 6 months of taking the ultra expensive meds. Maybe 90 grand. I think the insurance will pay most of it but don't know that yet.
