Has any buck in Popeye old area turn up looking like a smaller version of him, A guy would think that a few of the does would had a buck fawn that would carry on his some trait.

Excellent question, I've also wondered the same thing... I hope there are some Popeye JR out there somewhere.

I have a picture of a buck that was taken recently in the same area that has a strong resemblence to popeye. Not quite what popeye was but almost identical frame and a 200pt buck. Who knows what he would have looked like in a few years.

It sure would be a great thing to see some of his offspring, But they still have to grow old enough to make it into the trophy class, That high country Basin he called home I wonder what other big buck took his place, because you know it was a great hiding place for him, it will be a great place for another big buck.

I remember someone making that comment about our buck Chester. Maybe he was related, but he was no Popeye. We drew G again, so we will be on the lookout for Popey II.

Now that the hunts are here and some are done and some great deer are being put on the ground anyone seeing any Popeye lookalikes, or maybe it will all die with him, sure hope not.

We had a good hunt in Reg G. Didn't see any big bucks, but saw some decent ones.

Congrats to the three of you on your hunts, nice bucks there. What's with the black tape on Danny's rack, broke them off or something??

Brian

Yeah, Danny's buck took a tumble down the mountain. It's horns weren't quite hardened up yet. They were still full of blood. Had a little velvet hanging on. After a little searching Jeff found all of the points and we did a little field repair.

I took this picture about 3 years ago on Calpet Road, Haven't seen him since even though I searched between Nugget Canyon and Big Piney since.

Sage,

It's too late tonight but tomorrow I will go through my pictures here in computer as that buck looks and has the same features as one that I took a picture of on same road back in Jan. 2002. Even Longun remembered seeing it then when I posted it back then.

Figured I better look for it now or might forget tomorrow. Here is the picture I took in Jan. 2002 and the temp. that morning was -17 degrees.........Brian

I'd like to see one of those "big" bucks if those in the pics aren't big. I haven't seen a deer like that in OR since I was a kid.
