There will be a couple of meetings including a presentation about aspen ecology and its role in mule deer populations and habitat next week in the Upper North Platte Valley in and around Saratoga. This meeting is directly related to the mule deer work being done there.
Here's copy of an email that was recently sent to me:
Got wildlife? Aspen communities are one of the most productive habitats types for wildlife, particularly mule deer. Aspen are a critical component of mule deer fawning areas as well as summer and transitional ranges and maintaining aspen stand health is important to the health of our mule deer in the Platte Valley.
The Platte Valley Habitat Partnership and Voices of the Valley invite you to join us at the Platte Valley Community Center on Thursday, June 19th at 7:00 pm for a public presentation on Aspen Ecology by Dr. Paul Rogers of the Western Aspen Alliance. Dr. Rogers has many years of experience on research on aspen ecology and is an expert in aspen diversity, ungulate ecology and monitoring methods.
A field tour focusing on aspen issues in the Platte Valley will follow on Friday, June 20th from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. We will meet in the Platte Valley Community Center parking lot at 9:00 am. Lunches are being generously provided by the Voices of the Valley. Those who are interested in the field tour should RSVP by emailing [email protected] by Thursday June 12th.
We hope to see you there!
