The still quiet of the foothills covers up the trouble. Construction workers unwittingly let the deer in when they left a gate open. But now, the deer can't get out.
"Nobody here on staff is certified or equipped to handle these animals, and we don't want to put any of our staff members at risk," said spokeswoman Lindsie Smith.
Smith says they hope to free the deer as humanely as possible. "With over a hundred acres, it's hard to locate them; and they have a lot of area in which to roam," she said.
Removing them is now in the hands of the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR), which may have to euthanize the deer. If that happens, DWR will give the venison to the hungry.
