Piggy Pics

Well this past saturday AZbowhunter and I got out and got lucky enough to find some pigs I shot this one about 8:00AM. I hit him right in the head at about 20yrds. The arrow went in about 3inches and stopped, he died instantly. It would have made a great picture but his nerves made him twitch enough that he rolled over and down the hill and it broke the arrow out of his head. Anyways it was a lot of fun.
I have a question for anyone who knows for sure, I was talking to some guys about the pig, and I thought they had Ivory in their teeth does anyone know if they really do?

Congrats on the pig Knifeboy. As Hull mentioned, great pics!

I'm not sure on the teeth either, but my guess is that there is no ivory in the teeth. Never heard of a rodent with ivory before.... ;-)

I'll be down south chasing them & deer this weekend. I'm hoping to get into some, but I'm mainly scouting for my boy's junior hunt the first week of Feb.

I was in area 33 in AZ. I didnt weigh him out so I dont know for sure how much he weighed. He was the biggest one that was in the group. It sure is a great area for finding the animals. Really Pretty place with lots of big boulders and small ridges. Anyways good luck to the rest of you, post your pics if get something. Hey Stanley what area are you going to be in?

Congrats!! I was chasing them in the 36's last weekend, We saw a few but never got a shot. Stanley where is the JR hunt for your son. My son has his first big game tag in the 36 JR hunt. So we have been mainly scouting for his hunt. He can't wait, santa brought him a rifle for Christmas and he is really pumped up.

knifeboy,

just woundering, but did you mean to hit him in the head?

great pics, and congrads.

Knifeboy, I'll be down in the 36 units.

ConnXion, my boy has the same tag as your son. This will be his first big game hunt also. He just turned 10 last month, and we are currently going through the Hunter's Ed class together. I can't wait to get out there, and I really hope I can get him on some pigs. I've seen javelina both times I've been down there deer hunting, so hopefully we'll get into some. VERY cool of you to get your boy a rifle for Christmas! I thought about getting my little one a rifle, but elected to go with a Remington 870 Youth Model .20 gauge instead (actually gave it to him for his 10th B-day in early Dec...). A friend of mine has a .22 mag that he's loaning us for his pig hunt next month, and I have a .308 he can use on deer next fall if he gets drawn, so I went with the shotgun for him. I'll shoot you a private message, and maybe we can share some scouting info....

Good luck to you & your boy in the next few weeks!

No I didnt mean to hit it in the head. The pigs were all running single file through the brush about 20 yards in front of me. They got spooked by one of the guys that I was hunting with and they turned and ran my way. I was watching them as they came through the brush, I waited for a bigger pig to get into sight and I aimed at his head thinking that I would hit him in the vitals, but the arrow got there a lot quicker than I thought.
I would like to brag and say I did it on purpose but nope, I just got lucky. I would rather be lucky than good anyways.

Sorry... There is no real ivory in Stink Pigs.. The only animals in North America that have real Ivory is the Walrus... not even elk...

BUT that is a great animal... Good job..

Neil, the pictures came out great. Congrats again. When you guys heading out again? It's not looking good for me this weekend. If you get a chance, email me some of the other pictures that you took if they turned out. I haven't had a chance to check the pictures that I took yet. But I will either post them or email them to you when I look at them. Later
