Pig hunt in Nv. or Az.

My friend and I are thinking about going on an archery pig hunt in either Az. or Nv. Just wondering where in those states we would have to go to find some hogs? Is it easy to get a pig with a bow? Any information would be great.

In Nevada we have no pig season as of yet. There is some Javelina in the Southern portion of the state but not in huntable populations. Wild pigs (feral)can be found in Mesquite, Nevada, but you'll have to contact a rancher or know property lines to hunt them. No tags or seasons, just hunt them. I can't remember the guys name that you can contact, but give NDOW a call, they maybe able to help. Arizona has Javelina but you needed to apply for them last year in September. Go to there web site for info. As for wild pigs (feral) I don't know of any, but!!!!!

Thanks for the info. If you end up thinking of the ranchers name near Mesquite let me know and I will see what he has to say.

As mentioned, the season for Javillna in AZ is over (rifle this week). Need to put in for the draw next year. They are a blast to hunt, not fun to deal with after words. The season for Archery is Jan. Let me know if you need more info.

Steelermadman,
How far in to Az. do you have to go to find Javillna? We live in So. Ut and wondered what the travel distance would be like to get into an area. Also How easy is it to draw a tag?
Thanks for the response.

You know, I am not sure how far they roam in the northern part of the state, they are everywhere in the southern part of the state. I really only know areas around Tucson and I'm sure they everywhere around Phoenix. I would recomend the units around Tucson units 33, 34 ab, 36 ab, and 37.

The draw odds can be found at the AZ game and fish website, the odds are good.

The good thing about hunting them with a bow, the season is all of Jan and you can purchase a deer tag over the counter also. Deer and Javillia live in the same area.

Hope this helps.

knockmdead,

the pig hunting is pretty good in the northern half of the state units 6a,6b,8,10,19a,and the 18 units all hold good javalina hunting areas.
