pig down

Good day. Flew in from the UK on Sat, checked into Camp Pendleton on Monday with just enough time to drive through the night to get back home and try and fill my pig tag that had been waiting for me. Because I wanted my dad to tag along with me, I could not get out at first light. Needless to say, found the herd of pigs bedded under rock outcrop and snuck over and shot one in his bed from about 15' directly above him. He wasnt the biggest in the bunch, but I couldnt get a shot at the others due to bad angles. Nothing better to do in Jan than chase pigs with a bow.

A great day, but the best thing is, I have a few more days to go try and stick my deer before the season closes. Only pics I have are of the bugger in my dad's backyard.

Another question, what is the closest competent archery shop near Camp Pendleton, CA. I have heard of Riverside and Willow from another post. Anything closer?

Check out Performance Archery in San Diego. Bob Fromme is the owner and his trophies will leave you stunned! Great shop too!

Congrats on the pig! I didn't stick one this year, but I'm taking my boy out on his first pig hunt next weekend (he got one of the Jr. tags...)! I can't wait.

Good luck on the deer!

PS: Thanks for your service to the country! ;-)

I cant wait til my boy can hunt. The junior hunt should be a fun one.....especially if you get into them. What unit did your boy get?

We'll be hunting down in 36A/C. Should be a fun hunt. I've got a couple of spots that I've seen pigs in down there over the past couple of years, so hopefully we'll get some action.

Nothing like hunting with your kids! I'm more excited for this hunt than any of my personal hunts recently. I'm looking forward to many years of hunting with him, and his little brother & sister! ;-)

Good luck on the archery deer! I'll definitely post pics here if we're successful on the pig.
