if my dad and i pick a random spot between trailheads in a gen unit in the units just south of jackson hole and hike in a good ways will we see elk or will it be solid hunters. we have never hunted the gen units around jackson. will this plan work somewhere else or is the country south of jackson different from other western wyoning units, I'm talking non wilderness units.

Yes you will find elk. You will see hunters too, though!

I've never hunted a general unit in Wyoming that didn't have plenty of elk.

If it were me...and I was going to hunt the West Side, I might snoop around the 2012 Fontenelle fire/burn area.
